Forums - Gaming Discussion - Primary Console each gen

What was ur primary console of each generation? For me it was

3rd gen-NES-my parents bought this christmas 89 (over 2 before I was born) for my older siblings but I played the hell out of it in my youth. Thr games I remember most are Mario trilogy, zelda, and ninja turtles.

4th gen-Genesis-my grandma bought this christmas 94 for all her grandkids, the best games were sonic 2, street fighter and altered beast

5th gen-N64-this is the system that made me a gamer as I was finally old enough to competently play games, I got this in 1999 and had so many badass games, mario 64, star fox, ocarina of time, smash bros, pokemon stadium/snap

6th gen-Gamecube-my all time favorite console and the first I ever bought with my own money. It had thr perfect blend of 1st and 3rd party games. Sunshine, luigi mansion, wind waker, twilight princess, melee, star fox adventures/assault, prime, sonic adventure, REmake/zero/4, twin snakes, symphonia, custom robo, double dash, splinter cell, soul calibur, viewtiful joe were all great games

PS2-I always thought it was overrared and only sold well beacuse it was a dvd player but in 06i had beaten all my GC games and couldnt afford a next gen system so I took a chance with PS2 and I soon found out nintendo wadnt the only good console maker. Jak, MGS, DMC, GTA, FFX, SotC, Gow were some of the best games

7th gen-Wii- I finally picked up a wii in 09 and while its a great system it didnt live up to my expectations. Galaxy, Skyward Sword, Prime Trilogy, Smash Bros were all top notch but the only 3rd party game I really enjoyed was Monster Hunter

PS3-ive had this for less than 6 months but its already one of my favorite consoles. Uncharted, MGS4, GoW3 are some of the best games ive played

8th gen-ill prolly get a Wii U next year when its around $200 and metroid/zelda/smash release and a few years before I pick up a PS4

Handhelds-ive always been a nintendo gamer when it comes to portable consoles, GBA being my favorite (3DS might pass it if it continues to release excellent games)

My top 5 consoles

1.Gamecube

2. GBA

3. 3DS

4. PS3

5. N64/PS2

mine has always been pc. other than that i try to get and play as many of the other systems as I can.

SNES was the main

PS1 and N64 both commanded my attention equally. PS1 mostly for single player and N64 for both single and multi, but I used the former for single player games more.

PS2 was the main and the Gamecube and Dreamcast were supporting systems. Gamecube got a lot of play from me though. Smash Bros Melee alone has more hours clocked than all the games I played on PS2 combined.

PS3 (didn't need one of the other guys and definitely didn't want the other)

Next gen I intend to go with PS4 as my main and the Wii U as my supporting system. The Wii was the first (main) Nintendo console I skipped, but I'm fine with the Wii U so I'll get one later this year.

Ur right about N64, it was the king of multiplayer, as a kid it was awesome to have a bunch of my best friends over, get high on mountain dew and pizza and play goldeneye, smash, conker, mario kart/party, pokemon stadium all night
