If this is any indication of what the box could be then I honestly can't see how even the staunchest of Xbox supporters could still support the console. It feels like every gen MS tries to do something that can nickle and dime the consumer in the worst possible way. Last time it was pay for online gaming and this time it's always online.

They were lucky Sony screwed up big time with PS3 which propelled the 360 above and beyond what it would have been, but this time it doesn't seem they'll be so lucky. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run.

I know it's crazy but I already saw at least 3-5 people defending this..heck one guy actually said this is 'good' -_- yeah I'm not joking

If it makes you happy, BenVTrigger condemned always on. Now if we only get JayWood2010 on board.....MS IS DOOM3D!!!

oh yea I mean me and Ben go at it from time to time but he is a pretty level headed guy. I don't want stuff like this from any company period. If sony pulls this shit you will hear the same (actually you will hear way more lol) from me.

I know man. This has nothing to do with fanboy allegiance anymore. Anti-consumerist BS like this needs to be stopped ASAP. And as they say, you vote with your wallet.

Surprised no one has said this yet but WHAT IF THE NEXT XBOX REALLY IS JUST LIKE A CABLE BOX AND IS SOLD WITH A CONTRACT/SUBSCRIPTION? That's the only way that "always-on" makes sense.

This is probably even worse though as it means the only way to buy the next Xbox is to get into a contract with Microsoft.

That could be true but that doesn't necessarily have to be about internet though. I mean over here where I live you can get cable TV without having to actually get broadband.

well always online isnt as bad as kinect gathering data from your living room yet people seemed to be OK with that, heck i made a thread about it last year and look at all the people mocking me in it. whats even funny is my first two comments with someone where he suggested to turn off the xbox. and i said we have to wait and see, and now we are getting the always ON, always connected. so i cant even turn it off. just look at everybody giving no shit about their privacy

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=149579&page=1

people will still make it out to be not a big deal, because they did so with a matter that is even worse than always being connected

At least that was still a patent. A concept that has yet to be implemented. I think a lot of people would flip out if that was actually being used.

This however seems like it could be real in a few months time. There is nothing around it once it is confirmed and from what it looks like we are very close to having it confirmed.

while i agree it was still a patient, there were still some people who were clearly OK with the matter.

and if this is a reality just wait and see how a lot of people are going to act like its no big deal. i really hope this isnt true though

The neogaf thread is glorious.

That can't be legal though unless there is a visible disclaimer mentioning how an internet connection is required. Sort of like they did with some PS2 games where it said "Online, Broadband Required".
