Yeah, cuz it's not like vacuums inherently need the electricity to function, after all. If the next Xbox had to be always online, it would simply be because they wanted it to. This guy is just a PR-fueled idiot.
This makes the "people will get 2 jobs to buy the PS3" statement seem tame.

Always on requirement? Sorry, but I wouldn't trust any company to be gracious enough to patch the machine so it no longer needs to phone home when they decide they're going to force obsolescence. And that would just be my long term concern as a consumer. Short term, I wouldn't want some artificial requirement preventing me from playing single player games.
This coming from the same company that brought you Windows 8, I wouldn't put it past them to stick to their guns.
To each their own; there were fools who bought SimCity. Not saying it's a bad game, but buying it is a message to EA that you don't mind the direction they took - a shame given how much I've enjoyed the series.

If this is any indication of what the box could be then I honestly can't see how even the staunchest of Xbox supporters could still support the console. It feels like every gen MS tries to do something that can nickle and dime the consumer in the worst possible way. Last time it was pay for online gaming and this time it's always online.
They were lucky Sony screwed up big time with PS3 which propelled the 360 above and beyond what it would have been, but this time it doesn't seem they'll be so lucky. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run.
