Wii 12.7, PS3 9.1, 360 1.6 (million) in Japan. Think about the cost of localization, marketing, the staff they need there, ect. They have to be bleeding money. IMO they should shift towards South America and Europe. They will stay in Japan but I don't think next generation will be any different.

Hypster Americans... Let me "elaborate" what is generic crap. You know Japanese market is full of JRPGs that are basicly the same. Spiky hair guys with oversized swords and confused about himself ;  little girls with kinky dresses and emotionally troubled with a good sized boobs. All of them want to revenge their loved ones or their land from an evil tyrant. How many games use those stereotypical descriptions? Probably most of them in the market today? The ones that don't fit that probably are Pokemon games.

Gran Turismo just came out once this generation please don't even mention that thing that even you guys don't play. The best selling PS3 game is COD: BO, the MW3 then some other shooter unlike XBOX. You are American and don't even know Americans that much. PS3 is more on demand once again because of the success of PS1 and 2. XBOX pumps more Arcade games than Nintendo and Sony combined but they have no diversity in their library. I should've never replied to you when you said 360 got no interesting game... sorry about that.

Actually you are babbling more than him.  Hope you realize the best selling games on PS3 are also american games.  They just sell less than the X360 counterpart.

MS will not give up on Japan because MS knows that losing the hardware battle in the land of the rising son is worth securing Japanese software for the rest of the world.

MS should be commended for putting up with the product-xenophobic Japanese public to make sure we could count on the best 3rd party Japanese games landing on on the Xbox and Xbox 360. MS will almost certainly put just as much effort into Japan and maybe even step it up. The brand keep growing world wide and maybe if they keep pushing it the Xbox will finally stick like Apple finally did. It took a long time to convince the Japanese to catch on to what the rest of the world had already found with iPhone and iPad. MS probably knows that if they drag the Japanese kicking and screaming far enough they will eventually understand why the rest of the world loves Halo so much.

Any sales matter... if Microsoft didn't have Japan the PS3 sales was ahead 360 WW sometime ago.

Yup. It's pretty much a lost cause. Why waste their time/money marketing in a country that does not sell. Japanese gamers love their RPG's and (most) prefer Japan orientated games. Xbox is better known for their shooters and western games. It will always be a niche to own an Xbox in Japan because hardly anyone cares for it there.

I'd say yes, but I'm operating on very little information with respect to the 'progress' they made there. I'd say it would be best for them to channel their energies in the West, but if they chose to stay then I'm sure there's sound reasoning behind it. I'd like to know how Kinect did over there though.
