Sony had a good run.

lol

All depends on price. Doesn't matter how good of a console it is, if it costs too much.

I think it has to be $400 or less. $450-500 would be too much I think.

The market is going to be down from last gen, there's too much userbase loss.

Last gen Wii had a big casual base, the Wii U fails to pull those casuals along by going back to a rather traditional controller.

Sony and MS split the difference for the more "core" Nintendo gamer, who wanted to play games like Assasin's Creed, etc. Nintendo now has a HD system that caters more to that fan, making more of the Nintendo gamers go back to a 1 console system.

I expect a significant shrink in each userbase this generation. The PS4 is great and all as a gaming system, but it won't reach the external userbase beyond existing Sony fans. The same applies for the 720. The Wii U will take the biggest hit, losing a good chunk of the casual base. The blue ocean is very red now, and there will be several dev studios that won't make it out of this gen alive.

You're quite overconfident. No-one next run is going to beat 80 million, i'd say. The wildcard being Microsoft, who could pull out a real crossover device

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

If it does, it will not be for awhile. As R&D is like billions of dollars.

I'm still skeptical. Vita is a beast of a console, that everyone said was fixing all the mistakes of the PSP.

How exactly is this different?

Handheld market is not even comparable.

Considering Sony generally sells the hardware at a loss and then usual doesn't start seeing profits until after a year or two I fail to see how this will save Sony - at least not in the short term. And if they still need saving in two years, well, then they'll need a PSMiracle.
