I can't believe PS fanboys are still repeating this same tired nonsense that ninja theory should have stayed exclusive. Here's the truth in a nutshell.... IT WOULD MAKE NO DIFFERENCE!

Heavenly Sword sold well for only one reason... it came out at a time where it was literally one of the only AAA games on the PS3. That is the ONLY reason that it sold over a million. Had ninja theory stayed with sony and released HS2, it would have sold less than HS1, anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. Every single sony franchise (besides uncharted) that debuted in the PS3 has sold less in subsequent outings.

Stop trying to act like Heavenly Sword ever had a future. That game was a tech demo at best. Ninja Theory was never going to pull an uncharted 2 with that game and they were never going sell more than they did the first time. I'm sure even they knew that the game was just a tech demo and that's why they didn't continue with it. Had Ninja Theory stayed exclusive they would be exactly where they are now if not in worse shape.

Actually...they did sell better exclusive to Sony. With Sony marketing their product and making creative decisions with them helps a lot more than any other publisher they've been with thus far.

@OP

I understand that you like the game, but that doess't mean other fans should feel the same. Capcom took a gamble and it failed. I can't help but feel that Ninja Theory's attitude didn't help things. They antagonized the fans of the series and I think that only exacerbated the situation.

@Heavenly Sword Fans

Ninja Theory wanted to do a sequel. Sony was the reason that didn't happen. By the time Sony broached the subject, NT had already moved on. They aren't a big enough company to sit around with no income.

Ninja Theory wanted to go multiplatform, but Sony didnt want to allow it because it is their IP. Its kind of outrageous for Tameem to suggest that Sony should make their IP multiplatform. They could easily replace Ninja Theory with Sony Santamonica on the development. Ninja Theory is a brash, young team but very talented and with every game they grow. Tameem even admitted that they got more exposure while exclusive to Sony but because of how Heavenly Sword sold the studio made no profit on their own.

Did you forgot to take your medicine?

You don't know me man, I bought DMC1 back in 2001 and love it, it started as a RE game and it shows, DMC2 does not exist for me and DMC3 is the best game overall since they focused on the combat, DMC4 had the best gameplay combat but you don't care cause you probably play it for the story, do you play Mario games for the story too?

If I don't like DmC is because is too damn easy and casualised, the combat is a giant step back, they wanted the GOW audience and it backfired. It was fun at first but is getting sad to see you cry.

I don't believe you. Your the same as every other DMC4 fan out there. Never played DMC1, blame Ninja Theory for everything that went wrong with DMC2, 3 and 4.

According to who is DmC's combat casualised? Not me, not the fans making combo videos on Youtube; and not Hideaki Itsuno and Capcom Japan, who designed the game. But I guess their all lying right? Because you say so.

No I do care about the combat; I've discussed the combat at length in the past. I felt they needed to updated the engine after the cumbersome lock-on system of DMC4, which was a relic of the Resident Evil series. Thats why Bayonetta trumped DMC4. Thats why Capcom and Ninja Theory updated the engine. If the game was as 'easy' as you claim you would be top of the leaderboards on Hell and Hell mode, or you would have some videos to prove it. If the gameplay was casualised you would be making videos like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyyB_QsJthA

But again your not... supprise. supprise.

Of course I don't know you; does that mean I should trust anything you say? How do I know your more qualified than Capcom Japan and Hideaki Itsuno?

Wow you behave like a little kid, I did bought that game if you don't believe me thats ok. Itsuno and Capcom will say anything to sell DmC, Brea probably the best DMC player in the world already posted a video and she didn't like DmC she said "I need DMC5".

By the way nobody is discussing Bayonetta, we all know Bayo has the best hack and slash combat ever it also came out 2 years after DMC4. Capcom and NT didn't "update" the engine they bought an Unreal license since NT couldn't be bothered to learn the amazing MT Framework.

If the game was as 'easy' as you claim you would be top of the leaderboards on Hell and Hell mode

The game is easy and that has nothing to do with leaderboards even shovelware has leaderboards and that doesn't mean the game is hard, I don't even have the game cause I played the demo and got bored for how easy and unchallenging it was. Just look at this shit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT415jlEI0M

ONE BUTTON, ONE HAND ON SON OF SPARDA MODE!

You will probably say that that is very early on in the game, well then go and play DMC3 or DMC4 on very hard in the very first level and see if you can do that. The trustyle tournaments videos are made with DMC4 for a reason son or maybe you would say that it was just the demo well then who's fault is that huh? NT and Capcom not the fans, I'm not going to spend 60$ on a game which I hated the demo.

DmC in a nutshell: unchallenging, easy, dumbed down for broader appeal, giant step back in gameplay, total failure.

You got told again, must be embarrassing to be so wrong.

Your missing the point, they were pushed by sony because at the time it was all sony had to offer. Resistance also sold well with sony and proceeded to drop off with every new release. The exposure they got in 2007 would simply not have continued because it was quite frankly a mediocre game. There were a bunch of mediocre games that sold better than they deserved on both consoles, only because they came out close to launch. (Lost Planet, crackdown on xbox, heavenly sword, resistance on ps3).

Sony isn't known for having the best marketing so I don't see why you believe they would have done so much better than other publishers.

Ninja Theory is such a talented company that does not deserve all the hate they've recieved. Capcom almost halved the expected sales and it still hasn't covered half of that. The people have spoken. Someone needs to shut down Ninja Theory. God...such a talented company that was poised to grow in the next gen. Theres no way Capcom is going to fund a second game. Stick a fork in it, its done. Fans only have themselves to blame when less and less great games come out per year.

Maybe next time Capcom should try no to upset the fans.

this won't take an expert like yourself long

You are not even listening, I'm losing my time here you are beyond salvation, the things you wrote and post are so wrong I just don't have the time.

Fine I'll make it easy for you; here is the DMC4 video again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu0KIPXZxh0

It takes less than a few seconds for the player to achieve an SSS ranking. This is possible in all the DMC games. But I suppose DMC4 was all Ninja Theory's fault right?

Are you calling Hideaki Itsuno a liar? Yes or no will suffice.

""I can give my opinion in whatever subject or game I want to and I don't need to be an expert in it"

I can also give my opinion on DMC4... it was Twilight garbage. Now why don't you explain yourself with your videos on DMD mode, or you name at the top of the leaderboards. If your right and the game is easy and casualised as you say it won't take long.

If the gameplay is 'easy' and 'casualised', then how do you explain this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyyB_QsJthA

How do you explain the DMC experts who have defied everything that you've said Kyrie.

They were making games in an genre that has an decreasing fanbase, A new DMC from Capcom or other devs probably would have got the same numbers...

So....are you saying if the game was named something else that people would've bought it? Do you know what a boycott is? DMC or not this is a great game for western hack n slash, period.
