Forums - Gaming Discussion - So, what game studios left are considered worth getting excited over?

Atlus has been doing pretty good in the last couple of years, all of their titles have been pretty solid.

Atlus has been pretty absent compared to the PS2 era.

I'm always excited for

Platinum games, Remedy (Alan Wake, Max Payne), Grasshopper Manufacturer, Kojima Productions, Square Enix.

* Bullfrog never really arguably was, or hasn't been for years.  This was Peter M's company with Fable being overhyped.

It's hard getting excited over new games from Bullfrog Productions. Molyneux sold the company to EA in 1995, it's defunct since 2004. You mean Lionhead.

OT:
When everything fails and anything's closed down, there's always Nintendo and their excellent studios.

Plus many small developers around the world most people have never heard of (like e.g. Daedalic Entertainment, the company which made the game shown in my sig - a game which ironically wouldn't exist without the now defunct LucasArts).

Pretty much anything centered around whatever Molyneux is working on.  He is way off the radar now.

In regards to my question, I was thinking more major studios, because you are bound to find interesting stuff from indies by sheer number of them out there.

343, Bungie, and Epic are the companies I really have my eye on. They're responsible for my favorite games this gen.

Well aside from Nintendo's in-house development teams (and retro studious), I'm looking forward to Platinum Games, Grasshopper Manufacturer, hell Konami too (even though they hardly release anything for Nintendo's hardware)

How about Valve? They're consistently producing quality games. CDProjekt? Eidos Montreal?

I still say Bioware too. They at least respond to fan criticism.

If you talk about multiplat games.

DICE, Platinum Games, Bethesda Game Studios, Bioware, Rockstar North, Rockstar San Diego, Eidos Montreal, Volition Inc., Irrational Games, Rocksteady, NetherRealm, Kojima Productions, MercurySteam, Valve, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Montpellier, Codemasters Southam

and so on....

I dont get excited over studios, i get excited over games. Maybe that should be your answer.

Most of the ones I would name have been mentioned already, but I would add Level-5 to the list.

Edit: and come to think of it, I don't remember seeing WayForward in here. Those guys are awesome.

Level 5,
Naughty Dog (how you left them out initially)
Sucker Punch (again, should have been remembered)
Ninja Theory (although dmc wasnt for me)
Ubisoft Montreal

devs that I get excited over is honestly a short list.

From Software. Rare (Lol jk). Platinum. All of Nintendo 1st party expect EAD 5.
