No I hate Disney because if they can't sell to kids they don't make it, and now they own one of the most popular Franchises on earth and are going to use it exclusivity to sell cheap crap to children.

Lucas was already using Star Wars to sell cheap crap to children. Clone Wars? Star Wars Kinect?

I'll tell you what Disney is doing, they're bringing in quality control, a phrase George Lucas has not heard in a long time.

This.

Not surprising from a business perspective as Disney was already moving in this direction for their own properties (and Star Wars IS their property now)

While it's regrettably LucasArts is gone, I think we remember them more for what they were (Monkey Island, Jedi Knight, Battlefront) than what they are (Force Unleashed, SW Kinect). 1313 might see new life at another studio and so might a lot of other stale LucasArts and SW properties.

This might be a really good thing in the end for gamers.

Disney? Blame Lucasarts--and Lucas in general--having terrible management for, God, a decade now? They couldn't make up their minds what they were:

1. A factory for pumping out licensed games based on Lucas' propteries.

OR

2. A creator of fine, if not top-selling, non-licensed games.

OR

3. A little of both.

That identity crisis--and the resulting poor sales and bad product management--led to their closure, not Disney.

I'd argue that Disney movies are fore everybody rather than just for kids, not to mention movies like Prince of Persia, Pirates of the Carribean, and John Carter.  Disney makes many adult movies and even Pixar movies are designed for both adults and kids to like because adults watch movies with there kids.

LucasArts hasn't made anything in a long time worth mentioning so this one is on them and no need to blame Disney for LucasArts mistakes.

How are these movies not geared towards kids with their  whimsical plots and characters, also side note John Carter Flopped hard don't count on seeing another one. Pixar is exclusively a children's movie studio I don't why you would bring that up. I'm not saying adults can't enjoy their films but they are definitely not made for them.

That's sad because the first time in many years LucasArts could have released something decent.

But oh well. At least we're getting another trilogy of films.

Edit - practically everyone beat me on saying it, lol. It was the writing on the wall, really.

The glory days of Lucas Arts are long gone, the company wasn't really producing much in the way of worthwhile software for well over a decade.
While I don't feel sad about Lucas Arts being closed, I do feel sad about Disney inevitably shitting over the Star Wars franchise.

This kind of thing makes me wonder; what would have happened to other "oldies" such as Psygnosis, Westwood and Bullfrog if they lived on? Would they have withered and died on their own or could they have kept their epic portfolio growing and pleasing?

I feel ambigious about this bit of news, honestly.

Um Disney is far from catering to just kids. They made the Avengers if you don't remember.

So your assuming children don't like super hero movies now? Also every child was dressed like the Avengers for Halloween that year and the marketing with the kids meals at restaurants meant nothing? The avengers was defiantly aimed at kids and young adults. Name one movie not cratered to children on any level. Avengers was far more a marketed to kids than any other demographic

No loss. Lucas Arts sucked. They haven't made a good game since Jedi Knight in the mid 90's. SW 1313 looked like cinematic garbage.

Pretty much. It looked really good and everything, but gameplay wise it just looked like Uncharted in Spaaaaace. Which was disappointing because it was originally supposed to be a hard-M open world bounty hunting game.

Anyway, this was pretty obviously coming when they started refusing to release already finished games like First Assault. Kind of sad because for a short while there was a drive to really make LucasArts something again, but it's been a non-factor for so long now that it's also kind of hard to care.

First Clone Wars, now LucasArts. Disney is truly doing a great job

Yep. I'm not surprised by this news at all, after the cancellation of TCW. (They promised more "bonus content" which will likely be two story arcs, one of which is probably the one that was supposed to appear in the 5th season, and the other has a teaser).

On the bright side, maybe Obsidian can make that KotOR-esque spiritual sequel they wanted to do. Also, Battlefront 3 please.
