Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales: Famitsu & Media create - Week 13 ( March 25-31)

Critically dangerous situation for the Wii U in Japan. No games coming up for the next 2 months according to dengeki's release schedule, which have always been 100% accurate.

Closest to release WiiU game is a simultaneous 360/PS3 release of a port of a year+ old 3DS game, Resident Evil Revelations on May 23rd.

If Nintendo doesn't share their plans before the week ends, I will start praying for them. This 24th of April will be nightmare for them, investors will be on fire. I have never seen such a piss poor schedule, not even during Wii's last years when platform was completely dead.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Wii U saw a 220% jump in sales because of Dragon Quest. Not 300% like Wii saw, but still good considering the game only sold 30k. I wonder where Wii U will end up globally.

Uh, Media Create shows a 100% jump, and Famitsu a 111% jump.  Where are you getting 220%?

Sorry, my head is on backwards. I was thinking it's selling 220% as well compare to the week before, so a 120% jump. I did the math based off what I remembered last weeks sales to be, so 110% (from Famitsu) seems right.

My Bad, I can admit when I'm wrong.

Not much really, had Nintendo thought this game would be big, they would have released it as a full game, with more conten, modes, etc. This is just a DL game to justify to customers and shareholders that the inclusion of NFC into the gamepad wasn't pointless. I guess the game itself will do decently, but it won't do much for the console itself. I'm getting really worried, there's no games from Japanese devs in the schedule, it's all late western games localizations.

Nintendo, really is on a bind. I can't believe they released a system with no software support for ~3-4 months!!! If I was an investor I would be looking to cut off Iwata's head!

*ahem*

I WONDER HOW LOW IT [the Vita] WILL FALL IN THE UPCOMING MONTHS

I wouldn't expect Wii U to dip below 30k globally again for a few years.

Probably because Nintendo hasn't shared their schedule yet. It's possible that Pikmin 3 etc aren't coming till June, but pretty unlikely. I think we'll learn about upcoming releases soon.

Good to see the Wii U getting a boost despite a poor showing in its newly released software. Animal Crossing continuing to do amazingly. I also find the Luigi's Mansion 2 had a fairly decent hold for its second week. With a decent set of legs, Luigi's Mansion could cross 1 million. Dragon Quest X is lower than expected but certainly the number is reasonable give the circumstance. Game and Wario seemed to fail a bit though.
