Hey guys,

Some friends and I are looking to pick up a co-op horror game. We played Resident Evil 5, maybe 2 years ago, but were pretty disappointed by it. We're looking for something properly scary that we can play co-op (ideally online, but split screen would be OK). We want the kind of game where you're scared going around each corner, and then massively relieved when there's nothing there. We game on PS3 mostly, but also on PC. If you guys have any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated.

I would also be interested in this. Are there any genuinely scary co-op games?

Well I would count that as horror, only not in the intended way.

That's exactly what I was thinking xD

inherently games aren't really scarey co-op because part of being scared is  being alone and overwhelmed. 

Maybe there's a weird exception.

Left 4 Dead 2, and Dead Space 3, Re6 (scarier than 5, but still lol) isn't really scary, but probably the most scary co-op I've played... which isn't saying much.

Horror coop doesn't really exist. One cancels out the other...

But not all hope is lost. You could pick a copy of Amnesia for PC and play while your friend randomly bashes a buch of pots and pans together?
