Gaining marketshare = winning. Thus, God of War gaining GoW marketshare = winning

I don't know how you can compare the prequels. One has the main character and the other has side characters. It is pretty much Gears version of Halo ODST.

Yes, but when comparing sales, God of War is closer to predecessor sales even when comparing it to main franchise games. It has sold half of what GOW3 did in its first week in two weeks coming off of a decline in software sales. Gears of War is coming at 1/4 of what its predecessor sold its first week.

All I'm hearing is Gears 3 sold so fucking amazingly well at launch that everything in comparison seems like a failure.

Quality of Language. Make an effort to type in full words and sentences. Put a space after punctuation and capitalise the start of sentences. You’re not writing a text message, and you are not in any hurry. It is very easy to tell the difference between a non-native speaker (who is more than welcome here) and somebody who is simply not making any effort to be coherent. You won’t be moderated for using text speak, but it certainly won’t endear you to other users. Similarly, use paragraphs and line breaks, because nobody wants to read an enormous wall of text.

Never said it was a failure, but Gears is expected to sell at least over 1.5 million first week. As I said before the two big Microsoft shooters have very front loaded sales and then burn out. Sony games sell lower in the beginning but sell like a steam roller. Both games are selling very well, but GOW is selling closer to expectation, thats all. The only Gears that has sold like this one was the first Gears and we can excuse it because the marketing helped pick it up, selling like an amazing new IP should.

GOW:A criticized for being too similiar
GOW: J criticized for being too different

anyway now that I got that out of the way lol, most likely both will rise until their prices drop
