What's the best way to guarantee I will get a PS4 launch day?  I've never gotten a console at launch before.  Once they announce price will Amazon allow me to pre-order right away for release delivery (I'm on prime so I normally get pre-orders launch day)?  Will Gamestop allow me to pre-order online?  I can't order from a physical gamestop because I'll be in a different city in June than I will be in October/November, so can I do in store pickup if I pay online?  Most importantly will that guarantee release night reservation or will I be on some waiting list?

It depends. Do you want to wait in line at midnight or have it waiting for you at the post office after work?

If you want it at midnight you'll have to wait in line with a bunch of neckbeards at Gamestop and the first guy to buy one is likely to smash it in front over everyone just to troll the video online. But you'll be able to play it at 12:30am.

If you work the day of launch you'll probably want to be asleep at midnight so go with the Amazon day 1 delivery. It may cost a little extra, but you'll be able to play it right after work without standing in line.

I preordered my PS4 at Game and hope I get it at launch and as for other consoles I've only ever got one at launch 

just make sure that if you're picking one up at a retailer chain, bring a friend or two with you; especailly at night.

yeah I'm thinking Amazon since I'll know before most.  Also I have amazon prime for free because I'm a college student so it's free day of delivery if you pre-order something and so far it's been reliable (also I can wait a day or two as I'll still be enjoying Beyond most likely).  Also I'll probably get 2 to ebay for a little extra spending money for the holidays (yeah I know I'm terrible but may as well take advantage of those who want it that bad).
