Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo could buy Epic games serveral times over with just the cash they have lying around.....

How about using all that cash to actually make a console that is on par or more powerful than PS4/720? Perhaps then all the fans would be happier and 3rd parties could bring their new engines on to the platform. Why don't they do that with all their cash?

^This. With the way some of these fanatics defend nintendo, one would think some of the 10 billion was reserved specially for them lmao. Just release something that's up to date for once. There's no need to even go overboard. What happened to the nintendo that made GC? Also, show some respect for 3rd parties and try to work with them instead of thinking you can go it alone. What a stubborn lot. i guess they have 30 mil people fine with playing only mario and Zelda for 7 years so it's all good.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

And Microsoft has enough cash lying around to buy Nintendo. What is the point?

They should totally go for it then.

Oh right... they just want to rule the living room, they dont care about giving us good games.

That's funny. I've been playing good games thanks to Microsoft for a long time now.

I guess you cant have enough shooters.

Personally I think they put out quite a good deal with the WiiU, but in my opinion they should have used some of their money to build up several more dev teams over the last 4 or so years to really diversify their own line-up.

Wait, that's odd. I only count 4 shooters in my list of games, and three of them are from the same franchise!

At this point I dont think Nintendo could afford Epic. Epic is multi-billion dollar corporation now and is growing.

The main problem behind buying Epic probably would be that those guys are heavily focussed on the cutting edge in graphics tech, so I imagine most of the key people would quit after being bought by Nintendo simply because they couldn't do what they are interested in anymore. While the existing engine and that might be worth quite a lot the real capital/worth Epic has is the skills of it's top people.

Unreal Engine 3 is more than enough for WiiU.

Nintendo is like Disney. They need new things like Marvel and Lucas Arts to broaden their market in the new age where the kiddy thing gimmicks don't work as well as yesteryear and kids have more access to mature games or in this case "rides". Most games that are like Marvel and Lucas Arts use the Unreal Engine.

In almost every generation Nintendo has always struggled to be the "cool" console, even when they were up against Sega.

or maybe he just had to laugh a little bit because someone asked him such a question so straight in front of all the other people? who exactly said that he laughed because he has to laugh about nintendo?

and what's the problem that chinese own 40% of that company? did they sell so much because they had to or because they wanted to make some cash for private purposes?

With all this so called "money" why couldn't they make a better console? Why can't they just Buy 3rd party?
