Yeah the same thing can be said for PSVita so similar comments and expectations ought to spawn from supporters of this notion when referring to both platforms.

The problem with the Vita is that it has gotten the wrong kind of games for a handheld.

So you just contradicted your whole thread by saying that new games don't necessarily make a difference because they depend on the type of game? Wow.

You actually opted to crap on your own thread just to take a jab at the PSVita. That is some strong grudge.

Not actually when it comes to PSV. In Japan just recently Soul Sacrifice and Senran Kagura both sold more than Lego City in the US, game which is the WiiU game you are referring to when talking about WiiU's boost in sales.

You must be misunderstanding me here...

I wasn't trying to take a jab at the Vita as much as explaining why it hasn't sold much up until this point despite getting some games. It doesn't contradict my conclusion that the right games can puch lots of systems.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Not so fast. I dont think anyone would deny hw will get a boost for sw launches but that hw wont get the boost most expect while sustaining the sales. For example multiple people think hw will sustain over 100k starting today through October

I want names and links, please. (So I can set these people straight, if they exist of course)

Signature goes here!

Wii U needs two things to be a big hit: (1) much better marketing and of course (2) GAMES! No doubt WiiU can be the winner of the next gen providing it has great games.

I'm surprised it got a boost off a super niche action game, a lego game, and a couple of year old ports.

Maybe if Nintendo actually releases something on the platform, it will start selling at a healthy rate.

So, is everyone saying the $50 price cut at Best Buy for last Friday and Sat. had nothing to do with its weekly sales in NA ?

Good software will always drive hardware. No one wants a piece of plastic just for bragging rights. Who denied that games would push hardware?

I can't remember exactly who, but I think I read something like that in the forum.

Software Will Not Boost Wii U Hardware Sales

Of course

Wii U saved?

Can we stop this? Why is everyone so impatient? Its not saved as it wasnt doomed in the first place.

Consoles are products that are planned for several years in the market. The sales of the first 4 months are only a minimal part of the products performace over its lifespan. We cant call it a failure or a sucess until its been in the market for at least 2 years.

Its about the same as the Vita. These products are still pricy. When the price goes down and quality software is aplenty, even if only from 1st parties, the devices will sell alot more. Thats how products are. They dont sell alot when they release at high price, but they eventually become cash cows when the price of the technology and the device drop.

Whats the more impressive is Sony fanboys saying the Wii U is doomed. Seriously... how did things go with the PS3? Epic short memory.

Why is this guy not banned yet for saying stuff like this!!?

new game releases DOES make a difference. It should be common knowledge, but there seems like some people are denying that fact.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but that's not exactly a fact. Games are released all the time, but they don't always affect hw. Even gt4 (if memeory serves- I remember reading an article about it) didn't help ps360 hw sales when it launched, despite the impressive sales of the game itself.

Gravity Rush and Persona 4 are considered two of the best games available on psvita, yet they didn't help hw sales notably. Gravity Rush increased sales, but not nearly as much as people predicted/expected. Same with dreamcast and all the amazing games that certain people keep praising.

In many cases they do. A prime example is new super Mario Mario Bros Wii. There are tons of other examples, I'm sure. However, it not a fact  that because a game sells well, it will affect hw sales too.

At any rate. Good to see some positive news about Wii U. I hope it starts doing better, though hopefully it will also force Ninty to rethink their whole strategy with their next console.
