on handhelds? defiantly call of duty

Thank you for offering your opinion; it is completely valid even though the mountain of data in the OP renders opinions meaningless in this thread.

ohh its not an opinion. its a fact

His thread actually presented a pretty interesting comparison. I have no idea why you guys got upset. The comparison showed how a recently popular game was more popular than the gaming icon Mario on home consoles. You don't have to be so defensive and prove that Mario is still more popular by comparing them on handhelds where Mario is obviously more popular there.

Really though, 2d mario and mario kart are the only 2 mario type games that sell more than cod, and we didn't see a ton of them last gen, just 1 per console.  With cod, you get the same 12-14 million people buying them every year, and this trend will continue until those 12-14 million people either get bored of the game, or some new big game hits.

ok... well it isn't really much of a discussion so I guess mario is.

Call of Duty. Mario is still more of a kids thing.

No, COD is more of a kids thing.  kids like to play "adult" games to make them feel grown up, thus there are so many kids playing COD.  Not to mention mario galaxy 1 and 2 are arguably a lot more difficult than cod.

So, because it's debatable that Call of Duty may be bigger than Mario on Home Consoles this past gen, you had to make this thread to get some sort of closure?

Am I missing something here?

How is it debateble on home consoles? (guess I missed jawood's thread)

COD = yearly release/8games + every single home console/largest possible user base

Mario = 3games if only "SM" based + one console

Lawlzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Silly comparison. The answer is obvious so there's nothing to discuss. The same can't be said for consoles since its pretty debatable which is bigger on that front - the best selling Mario game outsold the best selling CoD. So at least people can discuss which is bigger between having the best selling installment or the most big selling installments. So if the console comparison was bad for benefiting the CoD, then this is ten times worse since CoD really isn't relevant on these platforms. If you had a problem with the comparison then you should have made what you think is a legitimate thread (including consoles and handhelds) rather than deliberately creating a worse thread.

I agree with Jay, what a silly comparison. Then again, the other was just as silly.
