Just PS4 and just in 2013 so in the time period between November-to-March they intend to ship 16 million PS4 units. I really hope it is just some exec BSing. There are exec that are bullish about their products but this more than crosses the border of being foolish.

I think that is PlayStation conoles combined... PS2 + PS3 + PS4.

PS2: 1m?
PS3: 10m?
PS4: 5m?

Definitely some sort of typo or something. If I'm not mistaken, the PS3 never even shipped 16million in its peak years so Sony wouldn't expect the PS4 to ship 16 million units within its first few months. That, plus the fact that its an anonymous "source" leads me to believe its not very credible.

NextBox and PS4 are mid range gaming PCs and you think KojiPro won't do a port to them? Come on guys MGS5 is coming to PC too.

do you think the transition from 7th to 8th will take a long time? maybe not even at all for some? 

Why would he announce it for an upcoming system? That would just hurt sales of the ps360 versions. Better that he release on ps360, and then re-release in stunning 1080p bluray for both consoles.
This game is going to be massive dude. It only makes sense that it's going to hit ps420

PS4 development is easy enough that they can easily port over current-gen games. The transition will be rough, it always is, but it will be much easier than it was going from gen 6 to 7.

The more titles exist simultaneously on old and next gen consoles and the smaller is the visual gap between them, the more PS3 and Xbox 360 will endure. Not to mention the difference in prices between both consoles.

With even more resources being put on new games, the riskier it is to release them solely on HW that has just come out or has a small install base.

My guess is that, for one or two years, the big titles will appear on both old and new generation.

False. Before we even get to anecdote, just have a look at any game site. Not everyone ready for a new gen has to be "hardcore" (one of the most overused terms I've encountered).


Very well, you can knit-pick if you want. But it doesnt change the fact that "plenty" isnt the case. The vocal minority in the internet does not represent the majority of sales. Most people dont bother with gaming websites like we do. At best they check review scores.

Since both are anecdote, there's no way to prove it otherwise. No denying that "hardcore" is a cop-out term, though (call it "nit-picking" all you'd like, the validity is there, regardless).

The point is the 8th gen is far from"dead".


My point was never that it was dead, but that its gonna take time to replace current gen. Its not gonna happen in 1 year.
