Forums - General Discussion - Do you support gay marriage or not? What is your reasons?

With gay marriage being a big topic as of recently I wanted to hear people's thoughts on it.  I've actually went into detail about this before and I feel that we are in the 21st century now yet people are still fighting for equality.  To me that is not right.  But who am I?  I'm just one person and my opinion means very little so tell me, what do you guys think.

Here is the symbols that you may or may not have seen by now going across facebook.

^ this is for equality speaking of gay marriage.

^This is against gay marriage

I'm sure a lot of you all have already seen these but if not just putting them up.  Any thoughts?

I couldn't care less. I mean, I'm not gay, so I absolutely think they should be able to do whatever they want, marriage included, as it wouldn't make any difference in my life.

I'm not entirely informed in the subject, but from what I've heard both sides a decent argument to make. It's a matter of opinion really, but here is mine.

I believe that gay couples should have the right to a civil union under State & FEDERAL law. They can call it marriage if they like, I don't care, but they can't force any specific religion to marry them under their doctrines.

------>One problem that may arise from this is if polygamy has a grounds for appeal too if society begins to accept it as a norm. I can't even think of any type of civil union that may be taboo, but I think it's out there.

It's a very controversial subject like abortion. For some people it is not, and I can understand because of where they stand; however, I think both arguments have some legitimate concerns. If you doubt me, just listen to what the supreme court justices discuss the subject. Things that I never thought of are in the conversation.

If you mean state recognition of gay marriage, I'm as opposed to it as I am to state recognition of any other marriage.

yeah I see what you are saying.  I'm not completely informed on the subject either.  And I won't even engage on an abortion subject.  That is a touchy subject and some people become furious talking about it.

I want the government OUT of the marriage license business. The only reason the USA government has anything to do with marriage is due to our stupid tax code. So I want a flat tax that everyone has to pay regardless of anything. Then marriages will just be a civil contract. Gays will be happy because they can call themselves married and religious people will be happy because they can get married at their church and continue to not consider gays married.

So I'm not for gay marriage because I'm against government involvement in marriage.

The definition of marriage should be between the people married instead of issued by a government that really has no business in the legal coupling of adults. We could still have laws like minimum age of consent, but we don't need the IRS involved. If two people enter into a marriage and then break up it would be no different than two business partners fighting over the closing of their hardware store. They'd just get lawyers or enter into arbitration like anyone else with a legal dispute. Laws involving where kids go in a break up can stay the same.

Not if gays start to get married anyone of them might marry me without me knowing about it, they might even force me to turn gay, I chose to like women and no supreme court can tell me what to do with my life, jesus wouldn't like that

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Gay marriage opposes what is written in the Bible so I fully support it.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I support it.

Two consenting adults who love each other shouldn't be denied marriage based on the baseless fear of change and obsolete dogma.
