Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Who else want Monster Hunter 4 come to WiiU?

Tagged games:

I imagine people who enjoyed Demon's Souls/Dark Souls would also enjoy a Monster Hunter on consoles (if they don't already). I'm a fan of the Monster Hunter series (I have the Freedom games on PSP , as well as Tri for the Wii), but I've always wished for a true HD console entry to the series (i.e., not just a remaster/port). I'm guessing Capcom isn't sure if there is enough demand for MH in the west to warrant the likely much higher development cost of a HD title.

With that said, Ultimate is really making me want to buy either a 3DS or Wii U (I also want to play Fire Emblem).

I'm pretty sure this is a go for Capcom already.

MH4 for 3DS in June in Japan, MH4G or whatever for Wii U in December 2013 (Japan).

It's an easy extra few bucks.

As long as MHTriGU (*phew*) does moderately well on the Wii U then I'm sure that we'll see a version of MH4 appear on the Wii U. Need not worry your minds about this!

I am not suggesting abandoning Nintendo but Sony fans do support Japanese style games pretty well. The sales for Ni No Kuni should suggest that.

Oh no, I'm not suggesting Capcom should avoid other platforms than Nintendo. But the thing is, that so far MH4 exists only for 3DS, and I wouldprefer a home-console-version. WiiU seems at the moment the most likely platform for a port of MH4.

One reason is the gamepad. Capcom said for Resident Evil:Revelations, that they are taking Off-TV-play serious, since they heard the story of japanese taking their wiiU to the train to play on the gamepad. It's pretty much used as a pseudo-handheld. The time they use on public transportation is a big reason for japanese to prefer handhelds. And as MH is most popular by far in Japan, that is very important for the game.

This only strenghtens my convictions that 9th gen Ninty will be a handheld/console hybrid.

The suggestion was to show the west loves Monster Hunter by releasing in on PS3 and Vita it would have a better chance to show its popularity.

better chance? I don't think so. 3DS is more popular in USA than Vita and MH don't sell well on consoles, so...

No, MH is not popular outside of Japan generally. I think the west will prefer the WiiU-version over the 3DS-one - we will soon see if I'm right on this. So it makes sense to support PS3 and X360 too. But the point is, Capcom has pretty good relationship with Nintendo recently and MH3U is only on WiiU and 3DS - so if MH4 comes to home-console the WiiU will be the most likely platform.

Seeing the sales - I was wrong. The 3DS-version sells even in the West better than the WiiU-version. I'm quite surprised about that. Here goes the chance to convince Capcom to make a WiiU-port (or any home-console-port) of MH4 - they already choose the best platform for the game, even in the west.

Rather than just a HD port, they might try to make a full fledged console hunter for the west.

At least that's what I think Deep Down is going to be. It's totally Western-style hunter.

Sorry, but Deep Down will be more like Dragon's Dogma. It showed no signs at all trying to be a Monster Hunter sort of thing.

Well, for me it feels a much better fit on home-console (some other games fit better on handhelds). And I also think, if people wanna play a game, they buy the system they can play the game the way they intend to. And that would be home-console. At least I did, I bought WiiU mainly for MH3U.
