DmeisterJ said about not giving a hard time to mods here, well frankly if mods are going to act like ssj12 did in weezy's case, than i think i should do anything but cut them some slack. Stupid rules do not help forums function better, they only make people feel annoyed, plus these rules are uneffective. I say that ssj12 undoes the ban and as for the other mods, remember about common sense, as it is clear that ssj12 forgot about it today.

DKII! He is the second in command. He is the Zechs to ioi's Traze. The Azula to ioi's Ozai. When he makes a rule, ssj12 has no choice but to inforce it.

Listen, the world is not A==>B type. It has never been and will never be whenever it shall concern human relations. DKII may be second in command, but that doesn't make his words and decisions the only truth. If something seems wrong why go on with it instead of correcting it. First rule in legislature? do not enforce cripple laws. The same should apply for the internet as far as i'm concerned.

I hate to sound rude but this isn't a democracy. This is ioi's domain and he can do whatever he pleases with it. If ioi says "jump", we jump. Same goes for DK, stof, and ben (and you bastards better not come in here and tell me to jump).

Way to lose the site some respect.

Yeah, I finally have a sig.

Chunk, I see your point and respect you as a poster. But you have to know that while your initial post may not have been a "berate the mod" post, you have to realize that with the rampant moderator bashing that goes on in this forum, it would quickly descend into a shitfest directed at the moderators.

And people just don't seem to realize that attacking someone openly is not the way to get the point across.

If people can't discuss this openly and are only allowed to PM mods it will only create more confusion on what is and isn't allowed. As a new member I am starting to really question why I spend time on this site? The reason I do? Because of the usually intelligent and sometimes funny discussions that go on and I love the great pics that are posted. I follow the rules as best I can, but at times you would need to check the TOS everyday which I will not do. Ban away if you want, but it will just cut into the sites decent group of posters.

I bet if Benkenobi were doing this y'all wouldn't say shit.

not really, I have been in tons of forums that there is a limit to how little you can post. This rule is a general rule across a ton of message boards. Like i said befomre, it is to help cut down worthless spam and increase the general outlook of thsi forums to make it at least seem more intelligent. Its all for the overall good of this site as the more intelligent the conversations the more people will join with the frame of mind that this is a mature site and not a site ran by a bunch of raging idiot fanboys.

As for Weezy, he didnt get his head chopped off just due to spamming, when he posted in DK's original thread about this, I gave him a warning just less then a day before about something else (have to look at my PMs to remember) so that warning on top of what would have been a warning about something he should logically have known about was just stacked on top of each other to equal out grounds for punishment. As for the length please check my comment on his profile on why it was 4 days instead of the 2 days I banned him for.

One last thing, for the rule not being on the rules page yet. Look, ioi has been working for the last few days on getting the predictions league up, and is planning on launching a few other features that you guys should enjoy. So take the ruling as an unwritten rule for right now as ioi has way more important things to do then hear people complaining about minor issues like this unless you don't want this week's numbers? I can always suggest him take a two week's vacation because he does deserve it.

oh not the "because theyre doing it, were doing it too" argument.

VG was fine without the spam rule, you dont need a quota for each post for it not to be considered spam.

can i ask you a question?
from the time youve spent frequenting this site, did you really feel that VG had a serious spam problem?

can you honestly say that VG didnt have intelligent  conversations, before the spam rule was enforced?

IMO VG has the most intelligent posters in any site related to gaming i have ever known. i like the community and i joined this community without the frame of mind that this site is ran by a bunch raging idiot fanboys(dont really know how a spam rule can change the "this site is ran by a bunch raging idiot fanboys" problem- if there really is one.)

if anything this just proves how out of touch the higher ups are with the community they built...

 1. Yes there has been a decent - good amount of spam. The larger chunks seem to come and good but there's always a decent amount of spam posts that are completely useless and adds nothing to a topic.

 2. There have been quite a few intelligent convos that have happened, but there are cases where great debates have been completely destroyed thanks to spammers.

 3. (your opinion part) There are a good amount of people who have an open mind like you but there is still a general consenses that this site is fake, it is ran by idiots, and believed by idiots who are "wiitards."

It seems that we are discussing more bans than sales lately, and that certainly isn't a good thing for the site. Mods should be like referees; You know they did a good match when you didn't notice them.

I have not followed that thread that caused this discussion here, but from what you guys post here, it sounds ridiculous. If a poster like Superchunk gets banned because he is spamming, something is just wrong. If a mod has to stick to every word of a forum rule, he is not doing his job right. He should know if a user is really spamming or if he is only making fun of someone or whatever. Also, what is so bad about short posts? When I read through a thread with a lot of posts, I'm always happy to see some short posts because that means I will have finished sooner. Sometimes someone just wants to state his opinion, and in that case he can do it with three words.

Lately, we had a lot of bans, and I wonder if this is necessary. I hope that the mods also make their minds up about this question.

Look, here are DKII's own words:

"Just use common sense people. "

and

"This isn't meant to target the guy with 80 posts who occassionally posts a short response to a thread, but rather the guys with 1000+ posts who have an average word count of less than 1 per post...."

What this means is, if you 'every once in awhile' post a pic or a 'QFT' or a 'LOL' or whatever, we shouldn't have any problems with each other. If, however, I go take a look in your posting history and see a string of 10-20 consecutive posts like this, you'll get a warning/ban.

If that is not how this is currently being interpreted and you feel that there is abuse going on, you must, must, MUST, PM DKII about this and he can sort out the moderators. Personally, I read the above text from DKII and I believe I am reading and following this order correctly - but perhaps I'm being too leniant, in which case, DKII can correct me and I'll start handing out bans.

I always try to be fair - I have never banned anybody without having given them, at minimum, one warning. I believe (and hope) all mods work this way...

scrap the last sentence and i completely agree. i do think that the mods should more communicate, say, in their own part of the forum

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The spam rule is retarded, plain and simple, because it seems like no one can agree on what "spam" is when weezy gets banned for posting a picture and I get banned for 3 days for...well I don't know when I "spammed" or who did the banning. All I know is that I've been here for over half a year with no bans and no warnings, and all of a sudden I'm banned instantly over something as vague as "spam."

It's not so much that the rule is harsh that it is ridiculous, without some real grounds between the mods and their wildly varying tolerances over a rule that's not even in the ToS, no one is safe.

I also like how my comment about weezy not spamming had just conveniently disappeared from his profile.

And what did dtwei do to get banned for 45 days?

I agree with that completely (i would even QFT it :) )

Sometimes 1-3words post can have same discussion value as 100 word posts...

.

I wondered about that too Claude (I mean dweti), but I didn't want to mention it because I haven't spent to much time on the forums recently. However, as I already said, we seem to have a lot of bans lately, and I don't understand why neither do I think this is in any way necessary or even helpful.
