Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's silence on WiiU to be broken soon

Your topic baited me cause I thought there is an interview with Nintendo somewhere that indicate it. :(

On a side note, the exchange rate is certainly helping right now.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

We can only hope so. A new ND, 1st week of April, set us up with solid dates for Pikmin, Wii Fit U and Game and Wario

3DS has some big games coming that will sell loads and make nothing but money, even if WiiU has some big games they've still got to sell the console to people which will dig into profits from those games while it sells at loss. Nintendo still need 2 game sales to profit from a WiiU customer

if they stockpile enough hardware this financial year and put the manufacturing costs into this year as part of the losses. Technically all sales next financial year would be 100% profit until they started selling units manufactured from April onwards.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to get a Nintendo Direct this Friday. They like Fridays, and with GDC going on it would be interesting timing.

I'm saving this.

You were right last time with the "we might even have a direct 4 days from now" back in January. If you are right again......

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Nintendo needs to do a "3rd Party" only Nintendo Direct. I'm excited for some of the first party titles coming (but come on, who didn't know Mario Kart et. al were coming anyway?), but I need some reassurance that 3rd parties are still willing to bring solid content to the WiiU post "launch window" before I'm willing to take the plunge.

What they should do April 1st (well, maybe April 2nd in the U.S. since the 1st is April Fool's Day), is slash the price of the basic model to $225 or so and to phase it out entirely and introduce a new bundle with a bigger hard drive (75gig or above) at the $350 price and make the Deluxe $299. 8g is, in this day and age, pitiful, especially given how serious and aggressive they've been in recruiting content for the eShop.

Bah!

just so i'm absolutely clear, the OP is speculation right?

Don't think they have been quiet that much tbh

I'd say a DC in april outlining releases for near games like Pikmin, W101, WiiFit, some more info or photage of second-tier 1st party like Yoshi, Bayonetta and maybe X. Some more teasing of the biggest titles, and maybe some 3rd party info. Some talk about the firmware update and VC. That would be good timing, 2 months before E3 where the big bombs will come out.

I think there definitely will be a DC, they will do it before the year-end report. They're going to need to talk about the year ahead for investors, so they might as well do it for fans before then.

I recall reading somewhere that the only years in recent history when Nintendo has failed to reach 100 billion yen are when they've released new hardware. If true (and I'm not saying it is), it kind of puts a damper on expectations.

They did this recently for the 3DS.

The 3DS has enough third-party games to warrant attention. The Nintendo Direct was still underwhelming.

Haha, I almost forgot about that. I hope I'm right this time, too. It seems like the right timing. Nintendo's fiscal report should be due out... what, this weekend? Sometimes they precede their reports with an ND -- as with the January one. Reassure investors: "You're about to hear some bad news, so here are some reasons not to panic and bail on us."
