How To Know When You Are Doing Something Wrong With your Home Console

I don't hate the Wii U itself... it's just that... um... just look at that...

I don't know if I'm being clear enough...

The Wii U, as in so many other cases and with so many other products, is one of those "if you don't love it, you hate it" devices where fans of it will accuse anyone who dares to direct criticism at their product are labelled as haters, no matter how valid and true that criticism might be.

There certainly is hatred but for the most part its well reasoned sceptics voicing their opinions, backed with actual arguments. Labelling everyone as "haters" is clearly a lot easier than countering arguments but it hardly stimulates intelligent debate.

Just think about that for a second.

The OP is not saying almost everyone that doesn't like the Wii U is hater. Just that the console, a piece of lifeless plastic have a lot of haters, which is sad.

Do you believe hating whatever is it sane? Honestly, that's a problem.

I liked that he was bitching about the time to boot the system and that it would take too long to turn on the TV while waiting for it to boot.  Apparently, this guy never tried to hit the TV button on the gamepad before or during system boot..  After hearing that I just stopped watching.

Counted the time to boot system to get to main selection screen - 20 secs.  I highly doubt the PS3 or 360 boots that much faster, and even if it did who fucking cares about 2-5 secs more on a system boot.

Who cares? this is meant to be Next gen! my 10 year old computer boots up faster than that!!

Like he said, it is a hot mess!

Anyway if you think people are ''hating'' for no apparent reason, just look at how many reasons people can some up to explain why the system is selling so bad:

It has no games, it's to expensive, it's a next gen console with current gen specs, the name is bad, it has bad marketing, the controller is a gimmick, the controller is to big and uncomfortable, nobody wants a tablet controller, it has no mass market appeal, it boots to slow etc. etc.

And that is not me hating, just look up any weekly or monthly sales discussion and you will see these arguments come around again and again. More importantly i haven't really seen people make any positive remarks concerning the system except for the games that they are expecting to be released in the future(almost all Nintendo franchises wich are released on any Nintendo console so that alone can never make it a good system, not compared to other Nintendo consoles at least). Now that's not healthy for a new game console.

By no means would I consider you a hater for this.  For this

It has no games, it's to expensive, it's a next gen console with current gen specs, the name is bad, it has bad marketing, the controller is a gimmick, the controller is to big and uncomfortable, nobody wants a tablet controller, it has no mass market appeal, it boots to slow etc. etc.

I say, Launches have few games and Wii U has a lot, it's cheap for being the only device that streams real time HD gameplay, nextgen horsepower has reached a ceiling of diminishing returns, the name is bad but what's in a name(?), i don't watch tv no comment, that's like calling analog sticks a gimmick, if the Japanese like it it's not too big and is perfectly comfortable for me, everybody wishes tablet had better graphics, family products always have mass market appeal, it boots faster than ps3 and 360...

I know you weren't arguing these points I just took it as a fun exercise.  I could come up with many reasons why the WiiU will do good but I will save for another thread.

I AM A NINTENDO FAN, (NOT FANBOY, I DON'T HATE PEOPLE THAT PREFER OTHER CONSOLES). HATE ON NINTENDO ALL YOU WANT, BECAUSE WHATEVER HAPPENS YOU LIKE ME KNOW, NINTENDO WILL BE AROUND FOR A LOT OF TIME. EVEN IF THEY JUST SELL 20 MILLION CONSOLES PER YEAR, THEY WILL STILL DELIVER THE GEMS OF THE GENERATION, LIKE A LOT OF Wii GAMES DID.

When the skeptics seem to be in a rush to declare it dead, it's hard to not call them haters. Granted some, like yourself, have laid out solid arguments in an effort to foster discussion, but a lot of them just seem to be of the "lol, stick a fork in it," mentality.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

LOL! He did reasearch on the Wii U but he doesn't know that you can acsses the TV function at any time. Even if the system is off.
