Since he made Ultima, I was going to take what he said very seriously.

Then he name-dropped Peter Molyneux......

Then I remembered what Peter Molyneux made before Fable.

Dude is probably right.

I hope you don't mean Black & White.  That game was terrible.

Kamiya's directors list reads like a gaming's best. Not one of his directed games have scored under 90% (PS3 Bayonetta nonwithstanding). As for Kojima, the man is a bonafide genius, Snatcher and Policenauts are classics of the adventure genre, Boktai was clever and innovative and ZOE 2 still needs that sequel and while crafting the Fox engine, still had time to produce Castlevania: LoS and direct Peacewalker. Metal Gear merely pays the bills so Kojima can indulge in more esoteric projects. Miyamoto, goes without saying. No other director/producer has made games in this industry that has both the critical mass and commercial success of this man. From Donkey Kong, to a very hands on producer of Metroid Prime to Wii Sports, he's the undisputed king. Shinji Mikami is another acclaimed hitmaker I would add, RE, RE4, Dino Crisis 1, Vanquish, the upcoming Zwei and the criminally overlooked Godhand. As for Garriot, guys a blockhead who hasn't had a hit since the 90's. Ultima never made or will make FF numbers.

The only one of those I would put above Lord British is Miyamoto.

Also, there would be no Final Fantasy if not for Ultima. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest were made as casualized console versions of Ultima.

Well, that's rather conceited from somebody who hasn't really made anything since the 1990s.

There are plenty of great developers out there.

You expect modesty from the guy who named himself Lord British, made $150,000 off of a videogame he programmed at 18, and didn't even try to sell, then after being in the industry for a while decided to send himself to space just for the hell of it?

This post made my day :D

Sort of how there wouldn't be Anime if it wasn't for Disney.
