Let me explain what these rumors mean for those who don't seem to understand.

Always Online: ... All this means is that the console can be kept always online in a low power state ...

Kinect Required: ..All it means is that you have to have kinect plugged in for the console to function.

I have always wondered why I am the only guy in the world who has to pay for the electricity I'm using. Apparently this is a non-issue for everybody else...

It's called an "OPTION" which means you DO NOT have to use it. Either way, the 2 watts of electricity it uses from being in low power state will cost you about $5 extra a year in electricity costs, so I can understand if that is too much money for most people to handle...

More electricity would be spent complaining about it on forums ...

Hahahaha so true. Plus people are forgetting that the PS4 was announced to have this same exact feature. It is the only way a console maker can have "Instant On" capability.

It would be a lot more than $5 where I live. And "Kinect always plugged in" - does that mean there goes another 2-5 watts per hour? Does the Nextbox "listen" and "look around" while it is waiting for you to "start up the box?" - there goes another 1-2 watt to a core, a move engine/a video compander? Soon I'd be looking for $100 electricity costs, that is why almost all my stuff hangs on power strips I shut down when the day is done...

People have questioned when these specs were drawn up. MS could have changed this since its original inception. They do in theory take gamer reactions into account.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

At most, you are looking at 5-10 watts total. Here is a good reference for you, of a high powered PC only consuming 5 watts in sleep mode:

http://www.techhive.com/article/169941/Why_You_Should_Use_Sleep_Mode.html

"According to the Department of Energy, theaverage price for electricity in the U.S. is 11.59 cents per kWh, so sleep mode costs you 22.2 cents per month. The average home in the U.S. uses 936 kWh per month, so 16 hours of sleep mode a day would be a 0.21% increase in monthly power usage. That's what we call a "rounding error.""

So I was way high when I said it would cost you $5 a year extra. It would only cost you about $2.75 extra a year.

And again, this is an option. You DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP IT ON. So feel free to flip the switch on your surge protector when you are done for the day.

And what does real mean in terms of actuality?
