Forums - Gaming Discussion - VGLeaks: First look at Durango XDK (always connected, kinect required, no play from optical discs))

We spoke a lot about Durango hardware specs but, how about the software? In this article we will try to show you the most important parts of Durango XDK.

Durango XDK has 3 main executables amongst other things:

- Durangodocsetup: installs all the documentation in Visual Studio 2012 (VS2012 is a requirement)

- DurangoRecoveryExternal: installs the “OS” in the devkit via USB stick.

- Durangosetup: installs all the tools and plugins for VS2012

When you install both executables, you are able to open Durango Projects in Visual Studio in C ++ menu.

You have some additional tools and documentation in the windows menu, some of them related with Kinect device.

And that’s it, finally you can browse all the xdk documentation in VS2012 help.

As you can see the integration with VS2012 is pretty straightforward to help developers to learn and use easily the new machine features.

Durango XDK has basically the same structure that you can see in 360 XDK.

Don't you mean "kinect"?

You know, I love Sony and Nintendo, but MS would never do something this dumb, they pratically rule the world (With Windows), power doesn´t come from stupidity.

for those who dont click on the link, it does not mention no optical disk, always connected or kinect required. the thread creator added those. In fact in one of the images it even says it will have blu ray drive. so you may want to disregard this whole thread as flamebait or trolling.

edit: upon reading the image it does mention always on, always connected, but doesnt list it as a requirement. It does however state that every 360 will be equiped with kinect v 2 and will need to be on to operate. It also states it will have a blu ray drive, so according to htis rumor there is a optical drive

There's no way all 3 in the thread title would happen. No optical discs would be one of the stupidest moves they can make, and the "always connected" move is hardly better (possibly worse).

Edit: It says they do support optical discs, just not playing off them. All games need to be installed.

3 quarters of the people that enter this thread will disregard this as it doesn't help their interests.

"play from the optical disc is not supported" is what I'm referring to, but it takes reading to find that part.
