Wow the phone looks great. I thought its design was the only thing that was better than the S4 but its software features make it look good as well. I'm just skeptical it won't sell well cause its competing against the S4. Maybe HTC should release the phone in November - January so that it doesn't have to compete against Samsung Galaxy phones.

HTC's previous 'flagship' phone didn't come out too long ago either.  I've heard that Verizon won't be carrying the phone, at least not in the near future and when/if it does it will be given a different name.

Xperia Z for me.

I've not had a good experience with HTC, tried three of them (tried three bought one)

my old ass Sony Erisson still works better than the HTC phone i got about a year ago.

I had my eye on this phone for a while.  The greatest and worst feature is fact that its waterproof.  Obviously being waterproof is a very nice feature but not at the cost of the viewing quality.  I've heard that the coating that makes the phone waterproof really diminishes the look of the screen.  It's too bad cause I'm sure it has one of the more nice screens when not covered over.

I encourage you to try it, that Bravia engine is really like magic, pics and videos look absolutely beautiful and vivid. While the display doesn't offer the deepest black out there, but it does reproduce the purest white and blue I have ever seen, Tx and One X displays look so yellow in comparison. You really need to try it to b_e_l_i_e_v_e :P

Sorry for being off topic @op

I was planning to get the Z but then there was that buzz about viewing angles. Tested myself and it wasn't such a big of a deal. The HTC ONE has a better screen and battery but it's not waterproof and the design of the Z is better. Camera of the One is fast but not special and the Xperia Z has a super good quality in Burst Mode (see comparison on different blogs because there is a software bug in the regular mode but it still performs good, update will come soon). But when I saw the prices of 640 for the Z and 690 for the One I tried to look something cheaper. Money is not the problem but I'm not that kind of a super power user so I save myself 250 euros and will get the Xperia SP.

The battery is just as big as the one of the Z only it's a 720p 4.6" screen with the same processor with only 2 cores. Adrene 320GPU, 8MP ExmorRS and fully customizable transparent "ambilight" bar. Corning Gorilla Glass at front and lovely aluminum around the body making it really sturdy. Price is 390 and has the same software as the Z. And when it comes out in a few months you get better optimized software and the battery will hold much longer.

When I see something significantly better than your standard smartphones of today maybe until then I'm not buying a new phone.

Xperia Z seems to be brighter while HTC seems to have more natural colors... just my opinion
