Revengeance is not just the only game I care about from those 3, but also the first Metal Gear game I really want to play. My interest began when Platinum Games got involved, but the boss trailer was the one that sold me on it. It will be a while before I play it though, given how I don't even have a PS3 nor a 360... A good PC port would help...

In the mean time, I've enjoyed its great music on youtube. Mistral's theme in particular:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tyc-Efgugs

Woah. That was incredible. I'll have to check out the rest of the game's soundtrack...

Glad to hear it. ^_^

By the way, in case someone is interested, that version of the song is not the same that appears on the "Vocal Tracks" album of the game... In fact, I still don't know what version is, even though is the best one to me. It might be a "custom" one, given how there's plenty of different versions on youtube... The game apparently uses more than one version of the themes for the bosses music, with parts that are instrumental only. I've heard some people claiming that it does this quite well.

Oh, and here's the boss trailer that sold me the game, with Japanese VA:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdhZGOCY3Qg

The themes for Monsoon and Sundowner are also quite good...

Hmm, I'll have to compare both songs for myself.

That trailer was pretty sweet. It shows the combat off as being really fluid, and it's gives a nice preview of the game's soundtrack, too. What's up with the character's mouth movements not matching their dialogue, though? Isn't the JP version the original?

Apparently the lip-synch was done with the English voices in mind. It's not surprising, given how we are talking about Metal Gear here, but it's a shame that Konami didn't bother to do a different synch for Japan too...

Whether the Japanese version is the "original" or not is somewhat debatable here. The game was made in Japan and the script writer is Japanese, but the English voices were clearly the priority, which is coherent with the previous games. The Japanese version also has "white" blood instead of red, which I've heard some people claiming it makes more sense in relation to the previous games, but I can't comment on that.

Personally, I would prefer to play the game with the Japanese VA, but there's no version that includes them with English text... The Asian version also has English voices and red blood.

The people saying GOW mechanics are far ahead of Rising and DmC are hilarious.

Its an awesome game but extremely shallow compared to those two in terms of combat. That doesn't mean its worse but the move set alone isnt near either one of them

How so? The combat in god of war is way more fluid, brutal so how is it shallow?

Its easier, slower, and has a smaller move / combo set than both of them

Again which one is "better" is opinion but Ascension isnt as deep of a combat engine end of story

Easier and slower..... sure..... whatever you wanna believe.

Believe?

Ive played through all 3 of them.......and GOW is my favorite Sony franchise.....

Its called im not biased and GOW is slower.  Significantly slower

More to the fact of it being easier not the slower part, I don't care about that because even if a game has slower combat but it's still more fluid and better the winner is clearly the better combat,  And don't bring in biased it's laughable coming from someone like you.

Someone like me? Lol

Your right I spend thousands of dollars on Sony hardware and software because im so biased.  I care about games not your console war

God of War: Ascension comes first, then Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and lastly DmC. Ascension is simply the best GoW game in terms of combat and graphics, and that alone is enough to own the two. Also, while the boss battles may not be as stellar as GoW III, its still the second best in the series and far better than the other two. But, as a side notice, MGR has also got good boss battles and a very good story. DmC, well atleast its got a great story if nothing else.

Loved MGR, I think I had more fun with it than GOW3, I also love Metal Gear so that probably contributes.

Haven't played ascension but based on other god of wars I think MGR is just better crazy fun, God of War delivers a wide scaled cinematic experience and great visuals but I just think the general combat was better on MGR.

the US version I been told has japanese va.

oh btw the JP va is the original in all MG games exept maybe MGR. also raiden was cyborg in MGS4 with white blood and all cyborgs in MGR have white blood in JP version exept sam that boss fight still red in jp version. i have he jp version it is 100% the same save for white blood for only cyborgs all humans are still red blood if it was Z 18+ only rated not D it would have full red blood in jp version to I am peed off t konami for that since lollipop chainsaw had a D regular version and a Z 18+ only primum edition

I've looked around and found several comments claiming that the US/EU versions don't include Japanese VA. You can apparently choose the language of subtitles/text in some versions though. Maybe someone here could confirm all this...

So, humans do have red blood on the Japanese version ? And Samuel as well ? Huh... All the footage I've seen of it had white blood, but I never got to check the humans... I've also remember hearing about some differences in the scene that has Sundowner slightly cutting a person's neck, which appears on one of the trailers. Can you confirm/deny this ? If there's still red blood in the game and no censorship on any scene, then maybe the white blood was actually the intended way and not just a way to avoid a Z rating... I know Raiden had white blood before, but I've seen fans arguing about which color should the blood be here and without having played the previous games, I have to plead ignorance.

By the way, the reason I stated that it's not surprising that the English VA is prioritized is that I've heard that Kojima actually prefers them over the Japanese ones, which makes sense given what Metal Gear tries to be. This is what makes the question of which VAs are the "original" ones arguable, even though I would lean towards the Japanese ones because of the games being created there. And I believe all versions of MGS4 are lip-synched to their respective VAs, right ?

Is NG3 Razors Edge actually going to be awesome?

I love NG 1 and 2 and stayed far away when I saw the terrible reviews for 3.  If Razors Edge is actually great Ill probably pick it up

Demo is on xbl/psn so try it yourself. Almost like playing an entirely new game. I only played the Ryu section, but that was enough for me to know it was fun.

ayane to hard core for you lol

Kasumi is even more hardcorer. =3

DmC is the king of hack'n slash. God of War is only a recycling of the previous GoW games, obviously Sony know how to milk that series, but as a gamer who played all the GoW games I've been disappointed. MGR:R has big flaws in its combat system, it's short, full of f*cking QTEs... and level design was very boring and flat. DmC is exactly what the series after DMC 2 and DMC 4 needed. Great gameplay, much deeper than combat system with Nero in DMC 4. Awesome level and art design and even better soundtrack. SSadistically SSSensational reboot !

milking is not having just 2 games in a gen.  I had a blast with GoW.  New adventure, MP, new combat tweaks (most notably rage meter), best final boss in series history, and best visuals on current gen=not milking
