Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's down, but not out.

Hope it does well. I want all three systems to do well next generation.

It's very early to write the WiiU off. Before the system launched, the key idea of the system was to come out early and build a massive install base before the PS4/Nextbox come, which third parties couldn't ignore. This isn't happening at the moment and now the idea is building the massive install once the PS4 and Nextbox are both out, however looking at the list of third party games to be released for the WiiU, that's looking increasingly unlikely.

My point was that it was offering the same multiplatform games rather than any that have noticable improvements e.g. NFS:MW on the PS2 compared to 360.

Also it's lacking exclusives. As Mario Karts isn't a core game, same can be said with Zelda, it means that a lot is riding on Smash Bro's which has never been a massively popular genre.

Zelda not a core game? Why, cos it's not spraying blood everywhere and showing Zelda's breasts?

And Smash Bros Brawl sold over 10 million, if that's "not massively popular" then pretty much nothing outside of Maro, COD, Pokemon and Wii Sports is.

Nope - because it's really, really easy.
10 million units on a console that has sold 99 million +. Proportionally, that's not very good when we consider the amount of units sold on the other consoles which have almost 30 millions less sales than the wii.

Exclusives sell systems more than multiplats. You can play COD, Assassin's Creed, or GTA on multiple platforms, but you can only play Mario Kart Smash Bros, and Zelda on Nintendo systems.

Zelda is a core game. If anything, Smash Brothers is closer to being casual friendly. If you got that wrong, then i can't take your thoughts very seriously.

Care to explain how zelda is a core game? It's really easy with a thin storyline....how is that core? Because you say so? F'real?

It's negative, but I think the negativity is justified a bit. The longest drought in console history, right at the beginning of it's lifespan. That in itself is pretty bad, but the fact that the Wii got little to no support it's last few years, coupled with this, spawns a negative mentality. I'm angry about it myself.

longest drought in console history? are you sure about that?

exactly

Well..............

they'll be fine but all those games were on GC and N64 so it's no guarente they wont be third. I agree though even though I've made predictions they're just basically educated guesses at this point. Wait at least a year after a console is out and usually longer to get any sort of picture of its fate. Would anyone have guessed that PS3 would sell 100 million in 08? Now that result seems almost likely.

In a new time period of tech, the buisness practice Nintendo does is too old fashion. With smart phones and tablets being popular, and Nintendo snubing off the third parties. Yeah but in about a year or so, this could easily bite them and if Sony and Microsoft price their consoles well. This could be a problem for Nintendo. I personally suggest they go third party, their known for their games not their consoles.

But would Nintendo software quality endure when they've had the ability to design their own hardware to optimize their games get taken away?

I think the N64 launch was way more catastrophic, it launched with THREE games..........and still sold 30m+ consoles and a SHITLOAD of software, if i recall SMario 64 was the best selling game of that generation.... this negativity towards Nintendo has to stop, its just embarrasing...
