Forums - PC Discussion - SimCity modder tells us offline *regional* play can be easily done

We all know the story-- Maxis refuses to give us offline SimCity not because it's DRM but because being always online is essential to their vision. I like many others am annoyed with always games, but it's something I can get past. What I cannot get past is being flat out lied to and treated like a moron by people who expect us just to take it.

just as I had suspected, the servers are doing nothing special and offline region play would be simple.

I get that Maxis wants to move the SimCity brand forward and that is actually awesome, i totally support that, but don't sit there and blow smoke up my ass. Region play is cool and I'm glad it's there, but we all know its also there for DRM. If it isn't, prove it and give us offline single player region play. Let us see for ourselves that playing with others is better.

Of course we know that won't happen because we know it all comes down to DRM, but I would respect Maxis a lot more if they would actually admit they've been lying this whole time and then actually did right by their customers.

Just a note-- giving me some crappy Origin game isn't going to do right by me. I don't like Origin, I don't want to use Origin, and giving me a free voucher for a game I probably don't want isn't going to make me happy and sure isn't going to make me want to use Origin. Prove us wrong, show this isn't about DRM, and give the people what they want.  Until then, I'll happily load SimCity 4 on Steam and take trip over to Simtropolis.

i really hope this hits EA hard. I do not like the direction they took with this or their attitude about it. I really liked sim city 4 andwas looking forward to the next. I can not purchase this game though after reading about it

I don't really mind "always on", although it sucks during server down times and so on, but I refuse to register to origin and it's unfortunate the "simulation" aspect of this game is so broken and ofc the cities are too small.
Everything else about this game is pretty much right up my alley *sigh*.
