I remembered a great piece I read some time ago about the Iphone. You can find it @ http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone.

Funny how I am a tech person with a killer pc, use the PS3 and PSP for all it's multimedia functions and have a degree in IT and still do nothing more with my phone then call with it and hit hobos upside the head. I wonder where it went wrong...

In that comparsion, is it tru that iPhone can't do all that stuff that is listed? Having no interest in it, i haven't been checking it's capabilities. But some of that stuff have became essential for cellphones.

Anyway, i'm sticking with my Nokia N70. It was resonably cheap, it has a keyboard, it has symbian, and i don't care it it'll fall on the ground.

.

Now that my Sony Ericcsson k750i has started crapping out on me, I have been looking at getting the iPhone (though it'd have to be the latter part of the year - leaving school, getting a PT job, birthday and Christmas all within the space of about 3 months).

But I also really want one of them new Zunes, so it'd be kind of pointless getting the iPhone.

So, basically, what I'm asking for is a review of the iPhone from Mr. Rocket, and a review of one of the news Zunes, from anyone who wants to chip in.

Gratz. I thought about an iPhone, but after my horrible experience with a Windows Mobile phone, I wanted something that was the best at doing nothing but talking. I went with the Razor 2.

Really?  I've only had two Windows Mobile Phones and my experience has been amazing with both of them (barring a faulty hinge on my MPX220 but that had nothing to do with the OS itself).  It's possible you had problems with the phone hardware itself as the OS has been solid for me and very customizable.

While Windows Mobile isn't terrible, it's behind the game quite a bit. It lacks most of the customization found in BlackBerrys out of the box (variable alarms, auto on/off) and the interface is too clunky (though so is BlackBerrys).

Overall, I would rate the operating systems like this:

- Windows Mobile 6/10 (lack of features out of the box, clunky interface, doesn't do anything extremely well)

- Blackberry 8/10 (amazing feature set, slightly bulky interface, overall very business-oriented, slightly lacking in multimedia stuff)

- iPhone OS 8.5/10 (missing a few BB features, amazing interface, Maps and other programs very multimedia friendly, Mac-friendly which is important tom me).

I would rate them the same as you did, aside from the fact that the mobile MS OS does a lot of things very well. It has the most apps for it, and I can DL an SDK for it to make my own apps in .NET (and have). I used "The Missing Sync" to sync with my Mac, and it worked well.

The only thing I really don't like about it, is MS took the appoarch of stuffing everything they can into a phone, as apposed to making an OS designed to be the best OS for a phone. It's great to fill up a feature list on the side of a box, but not so great to use as a phone on a daily basis.

Have the zunes even been announced for release outside the US (and Canada?)

I am not a huge fan of Iphones... I prefer my Blackberry, but I hope you enjoy your purchase : )

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Well, there was talks about it being released here within the next couple of months. I don't know whether
that escalated to more than just talks.

Even if it's not out here by September, there's nothing stopping me from importing it. Especially when I'm
going to Florida during the summer.
