Wii U hardware sales are actually over 3 million, maybe 3.5 million now.

Yes, and?

As per the charts, the WiiU is starting to lose ground each week and month to what the X360 and PS3 did. Unless the games you listed move lots of people to buy the WiiU, its going to continue to fall behind.

In 2006, the Xbox 360 was selling about 350,000 - 400,000 units per month from January through October. The Wii sold a total of 400,000 units combined in January and February, with February seeing a huge drop to 130,000 units. Even if you believe VGC is off a bit, its still lower than the 360, and trending downward.

If that ~130,000 monthly units persisted, then the X360-WiiU gap is going to grow considerably, just like the PS3-WiiU gap. Publishers are not going to like that one bit.

Well, we are suppose to be looking at the first 1 month sales, and then wait for the first 6 months sales followed by the first 12 & 18 mons sales follow by first 2 & 3 years sales and every year after the first 2 years. So the analysis isn't even being done correctly to accurately measure the sales of a video game system, as history has shown.

We are suppose to be going like this

1 month =

6 month =

12 month =

18 months =

2 years =

3 years =

I really hope you're joking. If we have more data, why should we limit it to arbitrary intervals?

LOL.
I mean if you want to predict the future of a Video game system then this is the best formula to get accurate predictions of FUTURE Sales. You pin point these spots that have already happen and based the future of the console on that. It's been proven by history.

I hope you're being serious. You've brightened my very hungover morning up greatly :).

Comparing launch numbers is a waste of time unless everything in the comparison had the same release pattern and there were no supply issues across the board. Otherwise it's a flawed endeavor with very little meaning. Wii U, PS3, and 360 launch conditions do not line up naturally. Comparing numbers three or four months after a global release seems to be much more valid effort.

As far as I can see, the Wii U is doing terribly--as it should, with no games. At the risk of Chandler bursting into flames from the irony, I'm much more interested in seeing how the Wii U performs over it's second Christmas, and if Nintendo's perpetual software series can save it.

Why can't we just admit that the Wii U is a failure and move on?  It can't even compete with the PS3, how the heck is it going to compete with PS4?  Answer me that.

Apparently we can't,

The Wii U has sold up to 3.5 million as of march 16th.

The PS3 at this point had only sold what, maybe 2.4 or 2.6 million.

So please explain.

Someoneone forgot the PS3 launched 6 months AFTER it did in the U.S.
Therefore this whole argument is irrelevant the Wii U is doing worse than the PS3 lol.

But the Wii U still has near Wii sales.

So are saying that the PS3 sold better then the Wii?

This is not about the Wii this is about PS3 sales vs Wii U sales you already lost.

Side stepping like a pro lol.

First of all you are wrong. Nintendo shipped 3mill. They didn't sell those yet. And after their financials they revised their estimate for the fiscal year from 5.5million shipped to 4million shipped because they realized there was too much stock on the shelves that didn't sell and they already didn't ship as much as they were expecting. They will also most likely miss the 4mil mark by a few hundred thousand too.

If you want to compare shipments at least compare shipoments to shipments and no shipments to sales. Ps3 has shipped 3.5mil in 2 financials quarters. Wii U will probably be similiar. However, Ps3 wasn't launched in Europe, it's strongest market, till the end of the second quarter.

I don't think the Vita or the Wii U are dead. I'm sure Sony and Nintendo can fix the Vita and Wii U.

Currently we can see in Japan, how fixing the Vita-sales can work. Hopefully that will keep a higher sales-niveau and hopefully Sony can this apply worldwide.
