Forums - Sony Discussion - Nvidia bitterness continues, compares PS4 specs to a 'low-end CPU'

Nvidia is right.

The APU has by default a mobile based CPU and GPU and therefore they are low/mid products.

This why I been laughing at all the craziness people have gone on about the 8GB of GDDR5 ram.

MSony are not pushing the limits at the start of this gen like previous. This is also why they are significantly closer to WiiU than their predecessors were to Wii. Wii to WiiU is a larger jump than PS360 to PS4/NXbox.

Now after saying that... its obvious Nvidia is in damage control.

Lol superchunk show me a mobile that can deliver 2teraflops.

The new galaxyis 74gigaflops.

The Jaguar achitecture competes with the Intel Atom, so CPU wise PS4 is absolutely low-end. GPU wise, not really, as a GTX680 alone costs more than the supposed PS4 price, so it should obviously do better.

Lol the first Nvidia guy made sense. This guy on the other hand, is either doing a poor job of damage control, or doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. You can't get a PC rig with the same specs as the PS4 for the same amount of money. That's the bottom line.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

We all know NextGen(PS4/Nextbox) is already outdated compared to a 2500$ PC
But does it matter? The Titan for 1000$ is surely nice to have but doesn't help anything if the games are "limited" by consoles.
He is just pissed they can't cash out on the console sector this time.

We can be more than happy the PS4 and probably Nextbox are doing what they showed at the presentation and probably even more over the time.We had already a huge jump with that and we will see more.
No one needs his Titan cause hardware already available in 2011 is still able to max out everything on PC.

This guy is probably half true but he's not selling the PC at all. He's actually making it worse.

Mobile as in laptops*, not smartphones ;)

*am I right superchunk?

Why does everyone take this so personally. This is a businessman defending his business decisions that were made for business reasons. i.e - he's credible as nvidia like any other company like money.

His comments are a little exaggerated, for the GPU. To expect GTX680 performance or anywhere near it in a console is a bit much and simply can't be done at a decent price level, or even TDP on the heat/power side of things. The CPU part, he's likely pretty close with his statement there, but CPU isn't as important as GPU by a long way once it's at a certain level.

Point is that he's not "bitter" and saying as such just makes you look like you don't really understand much about comments made by a rep from a business who deals with this stuff.

I'm sure the CEO of McDonald's franchise operations (if such a thing exists) would have similarly derrogatory remarks about the direction Burger King is taking their business, you can be quite sure that they wouldn't be "bitter" or actually lie but you're going to get an opinion that is centric to McDonald's business direction and biased in that direction.

In fact OP, you should be ashamed really for using the word "bitterness", it's really not helpful and gives totally the wrong impression than what is actually being discussed here. You haven't explained why you have used the word and it just riles up hate from the usual suspects.

haha this is hilarious. and extremely childish they are so butthurt they didnt get that contract

CPU is obviously shit, no one is surprised by that, and frankly I'm glad I won't have to worry about being bottlenecked by my CPU in 2 years or so for the vast majority of games.

The GPU is a solid mid range card until the end of the year when the new cards come out though, which has always been par of the course for consoles. 8gb of GDDR5 is really really nice despite what the naysayers would have you believe considering no matter how much you even want to pay on the AMD side, you literally can't even get 4gb on a 7970, their top card.

On the Nvidia side... Well, you certainly pay the price...

I would like to point out... you're wrong

Good point, I mean nVidia are selling the Geforce TITAN graphics card for approximately £900-£1000 here in the UK.
