Forums - Sales Discussion - Software sales number are fast becoming meaningless on this site

not to mention the over/undertracking of retail

Around the Network

There is no fast about it. We are already there. This sites numbers have already become irrelevant. I certainly have no faith it them anymore, and I do not intend to use them moving forward, or pay them any mind. I personally just find it sad that the management on this site is fine with their complete lack of credibility. You would quite literally have better luck using a magic eight ball.

That said if they can't do the job, or take the job seriously. Whatever the case may be. Then you know the least they can do is take down the lag inducing, system crashing, and thoroughly obnoxious adds. If It weren't for my firewall this sites adds would have killed my rig ages ago. I put up with them, and even clicked on them, because I thought it was going to fund a actual service.

Really we shouldn't have to put up will all of this nonsense to just use some forums. All that really justifies is a few adds on the top and bottom of each page. I am honestly not trying to be a dick about it, but this is how I feel now. I know some think that maybe the site can turn around, and maybe it can, but I am certainly not going to be holding my breath for that.

Let's hope VGChartz does something about how they track stuff, because at this rate their information is becoming irrelevant.

I agree with you. When you are 25-35% off on the numbers, that's a problem.

That's not true. NPD often post wrong numbers on purpose because that's their only way to adjust for past tracking errors since they have a policy to never go back and adjust historical data.

Like February NPD for example, I'm pretty sure most numbers were inflated on purpose which as a side effect made the discrepancy between NPD and VGC look appear larger than what it was in reality.

When DD becomes more popular next-gen this site may suffer a bit.

Everything will be even less accurate.

Plus, in their top 10 USA, they list tomb raider at 28k... thing is, it was digital only in the USA.

I have been saying the site should just delete the SW numbers because they are so inaccurate and used to fan a fanboy war and they should stick with HW.

Also, I would like to point this out to those saying 120mil budget would never turn profitable. I bet a FF in Japan being DL could gain near 50% of total sales in first week like NPD reports for US. Especially since Japan has faster connection speed then US and Ps4 will be more about DL/streaming. FF13 had 1.5mil FW in Japan and if SE cut out the middle man and put it on PSN and got half of those sales while increasing the price to $70 then SE would probably get near 40mil alone on DL first week in Japan.

If I remember the price of FFXIII was like 8900 yen at launch. So it already is 70$, Some games in japan are priced crazy high anyways. But putting it as a PSN might increase profits a bit.

Damn, if 120mil budget is true though I wouldnt be too surprised if SE raised the price even more and got the same sales.

I find the 120 mill figure hard to swallow for Versus  especially since people where pulled off it for FF13 -2 and 3 the 120 mill makes sense if it includes all the Fabula Nova crystallis  labeled games as to the near 50% digital  sales it seems strange especially since just about all the media and a lot of developers and publishers usually mention 20 -30% with it rising over time . it's like they took PC with steam and origin that pushes up the digital % and used those guesstimates  across all digital sales .

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

20-30% as of now? If so then this game could easily release in 2014 and get near 40-50% sales on DL.

Also, I doubt the budget rumor too but people are saying that's proof they would make it multiplat because they couldn't profit from it when in reality Japan could make it break even in about a month being exclusive
