Forums - Sales Discussion - Software sales number are fast becoming meaningless on this site

Did you guys see the February NPD numbers ?

Video game software (console, handheld, and PC): $369.9M

Estimated digital sales: $319M

This means that digital sales are almost 50% of software sales now. Granted they are more present on PC than console sales but still it makes especially irrelevant the PC software sales numbers that this site displays...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

The numbers are way off on this site anyways. It's near impossible to track software sales accurately anyways. The hardware sales are off as well, but no where as off as the software numbers.

The software is way harder to track because there is little or no info about the sale.

But the hardware... ohhhhhhh the hardware... VGC is in a serious trouble.

I said to ioi the site becaume way innacture after 2012 and he just said that everything is fine.

Let's hope VGChartz does something about how they track stuff, because at this rate their information is becoming irrelevant.

I agree with you. When you are 25-35% off on the numbers, that's a problem.

Not only does vgc not track digital sales, but its way off with retail sales.

The site will become a ghost town if ioi does not take steps to track the sales more accurately. I mean digital being difficult is understandable, but being so wrong with the hardware sales just defeats the reason why this site could be interesting!

When all next gen consoles are out retail sales will see a large boost then slowly convert to digital imo.

I dont come here for numbers anymore anyway. Its just something thats there I occasionally look at.

The numbers are sometimes correct so we can't be too critical of this site.
