Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should Nintendo release a Wii U SKU without the Tablet Controller?

No, the Tab is like their Wiimote. It's their innovative game changing image for the console. It would even further confuse the casuals. Not to mention, giving the lack of games it is selling ok.

And Sony should release a PS3 SKU without the Dualshock 3...

They already did that with Sixaxis

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixaxis

Sixaxis (trademarked SIXAXIS) is a wireless gamepad produced by Sony for their PlayStation 3 video game console. It was introduced alongside the PlayStation 3 in 2006 and remained the console's official controller until 2008. The Sixaxis was succeeded by the DualShock 3, an updated version of the controller that, like the DualShock and DualShock 2 controllers, incorporates haptic technology – also known as force feedback

Yes but I'm talking about the current controller

No bro, the Wii U Game Pad is actually all sorts of awesome, I wouldn't have a fucking Wii U without that thing.

WiiU with a wireless pro controller & wiimote/nunchuck is what the system should have started out as.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

The Wii U sales are not great right now, and many are asking for a price cut, so i had an idea how to lower the price of the console without endangering the profits to be had.

If they released a budget version only with a classic controller and maybe a Wiimote, they could slash the price by quite a bit and still sell it with profit.

of course i realize there would need adjustments to be made with the UI, and Nintendo would have to design all future games to be optionally playable without the tablet controller, and also add that requirement to 3rd party devs.

but of course the tablet controller would always be an option to buy later on to upgrade to a full Wii U console.

the tablet is the selling poit... even though it is not selling very well... so no

Damn. Bad day? I've seen you make these kinds of posts before so I'm not sure why you're still hanging around here. Seems like you want a permaban.

Everyone wanted a Wii HD, Nintendo is just late to the HD party. HD is no longer a selling point as it is a standard feature that is expected, even in tablets these days.

No, only you want him permabanned.

He is a great user and says it like it is, and is annoyed with general stupidity, and well I don't blame him.

He disagrees with the Nintendo hate and sees big issues elsewhere in the industry, and he is not incorrect.

No, I don't. This is al lhe is doing. He is a horrible user. Never have I met a user so willingly break every single rule in the book with a single post. If he can't control himself, he doesn't belong here. People like him add nothing to the conversation and we're better off without him. He rarely posts and when he does he erupts.

I love him. I find the he erupts like that because people fail to use reason a lot of the time and it can be infuriating. It's not his fault, but the fault of people not taking the time to inform themselves and just bash NIntendo constantly. (and no I didn't mean you unclescrooge you'r ea great guy)

He's reacting to that problem, so no it's not all his doing.

For the first time, the great majority of us agree with something.

The tablet offers a unique experience and selling point for the system compared to its competition. The only problem with the tablet is that Nintendo failed to have enough unique games that sell the experience at launch. Trying to sell a Wii U without the tablet would under cut what Nintendo is trying to do with the system and its plans for future games so selling the Wii U without the tablets is a bad idea.

Nintendo SHOULD however consider selling Wii U tablets separately but I suspect their desire to curb piracy and not wanting people to suspect or want multiple tablets to one Wii U system is why they took the stance of selling the tablet only with the system. Time will tell if they are making another mistake like they did with the storage formats of the N64 and GC.
