Easy question.
I'm yet to play God of War 3 but I expect that to be the most epic.
Until now it's Mass Effect 2.

God of war 3 hands down. that game defines epic. nothing comes close to it
Final Fantasy VII. But I think it was easier to be over-awed by things when I was younger.
Having meteor looming over you every time you ran across the world map... haunting.
That`s hard, actually!
It`s a mix between Zelda 1, Zelda: OOT and Halo 3.
Man, that Dodongo fight was pretty cool, but i`ll go with Zelda 1. The game was just that amazing - and still is!
The word Epic means God of War, nothing comes to close to the ridiculous scales used in those games. In some ways it was just silly, but basically just amazing
Mario Party 2
---
That last turn always makes the difference, and winning with 4 people makes you a man.
However if you're exclusive to single player, I vote Mass Effect 1. I honestly was panicing when the game was ending because I thought based on my decisions, all humanity could become extinct in that first entry. I killed the counsil, and regretted it since because I didn't realize if I let them live, I could still save the day. However I kept that decision because it was the decision I made at the time, and if they could make an ending so epic, I want to play the trilogy with real decisions.

mario party? epic?...... mario party? epic????
as much as i love the mario party games on the n64, epic is no where to be found in those games
Define epicness. Is the game epic because it tries to impress me, or it feels that way because of how much I can "push" in the game?
Two examples that belong to the same genre: The first type is God of War, the second one is God Hand.

Say that to 3 fully grown men who exist in real life sitting right beside you under the influence of alcohol.
I think that's scarier and more "epic" then anything in a video game.
