Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft acquires Pando (torrent app), next-gen Xbox expected in June

Lol terribkle move if true... so I don't think it's true

June Launch would be AWESOME for MS. It would literally shock everyone because it's expected Holidays.

Still not a good time to launch a console...I think. And I don't see how this is possible unless they've managed to hide everything for so long even though it's almost ready.

Why is it a bad time? I mean it's summer, the kids will have nothing to do but watch tv and play outside. And it's a jump on Sony.

Interesting to say the least. Pando was stealth installed onto every computer that plays League of Legends a while back, and it annoyed a lot of people.Apparently it caused some lag during game play as it would transfer data while people were playing.

June release would be fucking awesome, though.

What good would a torrent app be on the next-gen Xbox? We know they won't allow pirating(99% of what torrents are used for) so then.....getting rid of XBL servers for downloads? It would definitely save them tons of money on server costs.

Deleted that software off my laptop soon after I installed league of legends. Noticed some immediate improvements in lag shortly thereafter.

As for a June launch date, it would give consumers very little notice. We're mid-way through March. If they announce the console in April and launch in June it gives them 2 months to get the word out there and start the advertising rolling. I don't see it happening, but it could give them an edge and help them steal some of Sony's thunder.

Considering that Sony and Microsoft appear to be two of the leakiest companies on the planet, it seems a little strange that if they were going to launch in three months and there was no knowledge of it or leaks all over the place.

Honestly, this feels like a bad rumour, despite the source. Just because they're a business magazine doesn't mean they can't get something wrong or end up getting information from some random source that doesn't have a clue what they're talking about.

Consoles sell horribly in the summer so even if it would get good first month sales, I could see them going to WiiU's level quicker than WiiU did (because there's no holiday season to keep the momentum going). Then, by the time the holidays roll around, Sony will launch the next big thing and there's a risk of it stealing the attention from 720...if this is true.

Plus, you need to build up a bit of hype before launching a console. A month or two would be too short.

You're talking about maximizing the launch, but consistent sales from a head start could be better for MS. Good sales from launch + only successor on the market of the HD twins + potential deals/sales when PS4 launches could give it an edge.

That being said, I agree marketing push is necessary and games! Where are the games?

I don't place much salt in the rumor, but I don't think it's a bad idea to launch in June either.

Maybe they mean the announcement of the console? Isn't E3 in June?

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21
