Forums - Gaming Discussion - Minecraft subscription service revealed and Minecraft 1.5 update goes live

Yeah this is a huge update. I've been watching the snapshots and I actually didn't play the pre-release for once... I thought the server thing was dumb, but if it's aimed at people who want a more family friendly experience, then I am all for it... you don't really see that on the web anymore.

Could be cool.  Would need to see what it brings to the table. Next up, need to check the update and fire up a new world.

Interesting to see Herobrine is removed once more.

lol subscriptions being priced the same as WoW

I can't tell from the article but is the update for the 360 or the PC?

It's a PC update. Version 1.5 for the PC. The Pocket and 360 editions are still both a good ways behind the PC, but they'll get there.

As for the original posts, it's an interesting idea. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for it, but one never knows. It could be interesting to see how an MMO style thing for Minecraft could actually work. So long as I get to keep my single player experience, I say more power to them.

Interesting idea, but I'm definitely not the target audience. Besides, I'm too busy with Feed The Beast...

PC version.  1.5 represent the state of Minecraft overall.  360 version is not even up to 1.0 yet I believe.

I do hope they come up with the API so user generated mods integrate seemlessly with Minecraft so I can play some mods on it.  I want more mobs/creatures and offering more stuff to find when exploring.  I play Minecraft as a master the world and survive game, rather than Legos.  I get my creative itch met elsewhere.

I might get into this game - my friends have been wanting me to get into it as well!

You should. It's a pretty neat game. If you don't like the area you're in, you can just regenerate a new world... but almost always you will find something to do. It's fun with multiplayer, but I like playing as single player too...

I'll probably get into it quick and easily since I've played a similar game to it but it was 2D: Terraria ;o

haha, I played Terraria first :) Me and the husband spent forever in it building and finishing the adventure part. There's a lot more role playing elements in Terraria compared to MineCraft, (Minecraft is more creative/exploration), but it's slowly changing and there is a lot more updates going into it...

I think there is the beginnings of an adventure mode, but I have no idea how it works, but it's supposed to allow you to create dungeons, things like that. You probably have to download maps/worlds people have already made.
