Forums - Sales Discussion - Is the Sonic franchise dead?

I didn't mind Sonic and the Secret Rings. Was the music terrible? Oh yeah. Was the story non-existant? Yeah, but what Sonic game has ever focused on story anyway? To me, it was a step in the right direction for the future of 3D Sonic. The on-rails style of gameplay isn't perfect, but it brought back Sonic's most important attribute: speed, and lots of it. The game needs more refinement and the composer should be shot in the head, but the actual gameplay has potential. I also enjoyed Sonic Rush but for the sequel, I'd like to see Sega ditch the other playable characters and go Sonic-only. I don't want to play Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze, Tails, (add in another stupid character from a previous Sonic game here), or any character that isn't a blue hedgehog. Make it happen, Sega.

I dunno in my opinion the rail system slowed the game down. You were going so fast and with the crappy targetting system you were constantly trying to back up or fall off a mountain or get killed by an enemy you couldn't kill because the targetting system messed up.

Sonic Adventures in my opinion was the perfect Sonic game and Sonic Adventure2 was also the best in my opinion. If Sega was to make a Sonic Adventures 3 that featured Sonic and Shadow as the only two playable characters we would have the perfect game.

The linear design of the level's in Sonic games is enough to encourage faster gameplay. The game is linear enough and Secret Rings rail system just took it to far.  I like to be able to stop and look for hidden stuff I like to battle enemies not just go whizzing by!

The glitches and the raisl in specific ruined Sonic for me. I want a return to Adventures nothing else will cut it for me. Apparently 360 is pretty close to that of the adventure games , but I haven't played it yet.  All I can say is I no longer buy Sonic games without renting them first since I no longer trust SonicTeam or Sega to give me a quality product!

I'm seriously hoping for Samba de Amigo to come back on the Wii next.  Those rhythm game sections in Rayman Raving Rabbids were just crying out for a bean-shaking clip-on!

C'mon, Sega, show us the monkey!!!
