Law360, New York (March 13, 2013, 7:19 PM ET) -- A New York federal jury on Wednesday ordered Nintendo Co. Ltd. to pay just more than $30 million to Tomita Technologies International Inc. in a patent infringement suit over 3-D technology.

The jury, which issued its verdict late Wednesday afternoon, awarded damages to Tomita, which had alleged in the suit that Nintendo's 3DS hand-held video game system infringed a patent covering technology for displaying 3-D images that can be viewed without using special glasses.

Honestly $30 million is nothing to Nintendo. Seeing how nearly 30 million consoles have been sold that's only $1 per unit, really lenient.

Nintendo could appeal and draw out more legal costs and waste time, or they can just pay the guy to get him off their back.

I think this is a bad decision by the jury. First of all, Tomita showed it to Nintendo along with a hundred other people showing glasses-free 3D tech. I assume they all, including Sharp had patents for the tech. Second of all, Nintendo should not be held really accountable when they neither manufactured or provided the glasses-free tech. Realistically,he should have sued Sharp
