Forums - Gaming Discussion - Miyamoto says Nintendo didn't focus on online because it "would have limited the size of the audience that could enjoy those features"

they didn't put a great online service simply because they didn't need to, their demographic wasn't going to spend a lot of money on it so they didn't bother, but this gen they did because they are going for a different demographic the super awesome 18-34 male demo.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Nintendo needs new management, they could have won next-generation before the ps4/720 were even out. I was rooting for them but they've failed me on a yearly basis since E3 2008.

Yeah I know right? How DARE they give you games like Wario Land: Shake It, and Animal Crossing, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Super Mario Galaxy, and both Kirby Epic Yarn and Kirby's Return to Dreamland, and Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Skyward Sword, and Xenoblade. And that's just on Wii. How DARE they, right? I can totally see the letdown. No......really, I can.

You know, I'm sorry, but it's this "internet age" generation of gamers, with this exact same entitled, impatient attitude that you're displaying, that is a BIG part of what is wrong with the games industry now. Did you give up on the PS3 early on because it didn't have hot new titles for you to buy every single month? Then why do the same for Wii U, because it had a couple dry months? The big titles are coming, and all people like you have to do, is show a tad bit of grown up adult patience, and you'll be playing them in no time.

Believe it or not, there was a time when gamers didn't have the internet to give them "the scoop" every single day of every single week, we just bought games, enjoyed them, and when new games came out, we bought those, and enjoyed THEM. What a fuckin' concept eh?

LMAO! well sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I just didn't find mant of Nintendo's offering exciting after 2008. Xenoblade and zelda were exceptions, with extremely weak 3rd party support they were recieving I thought they would use the billions they made off titles like wii fit, to expand their 1st party porfolio and take risks. Instead I recieevd kirby, donkey kong and a bunch of other nonsense I can't even remember.

But they've handled the wii U like shit. Not only in terms of launch window software but in terms of the systems designs and specs. They could have invalidated the ps4 before it was even announced, but no, they decide try and replicate the magic of the wii. Well they failed.

Sony and Microsoft have less pressure on the 1st party front because 3rd parties actual support their systems with quality titles, presumably because their hardware isn't 5 years out of date. I could avoid all sony's 1st party games and still having an amazing year with the ps3's line up. Same with Xbox...
