Forums - Gaming Discussion - How have your video game systems broken?

Atari 2600 - (Sold at market fair. System always worked. The controllers however broke after about 6 months.
Sega MS - Never had any issues with the systems. The controllers were terrible though.
Nintendo (NES) - Mine still works. Even the R.O.B. that came with it still works. The controller work as well.
SNES - (Never broke. Still works great. Much better controllers)
Colecovision - Sold it at a market fair. It still worked. Hated the controllers though.
Turbographix - Still works I think. Haven't played it in years.
PS1 - It's toast. CD's started skipping and freezing after a year. Turned PS1 on it's side or upside helped for about 6 months, but eventually the PS1 stopped playing CD's. Bought another one and the same crap happened.
Gamecube - Still have it and it still works. Lost several of the controllers though.
XBox - Still have the original system. It still works fine. The controllers wires broke from the controller though.
PS2 - Used it to play my PS1 games after the PS1 died. PS2 started getting DRE errors after about 2yrs. Sony wouldn't replace it as out of warranty. Sold it online for $25. Bought a new PS2 with the network adapter. Had it for about a year before my sister-in-laws boyfriend stole it. Found out about 6-7 months later. Wife bought me a new PS2 w/ network adapter after that. Just before Sony stopped selling those models.
Xbox 360 - Had it for almost 2-1/2 years before it RROD. Swapped it for another XBox 360 at Wal-Mart. Same think happened to the new on after a year. Sent it to Microsoft who fixed it. Sent me back the SAME system as I had written down the serial#. Didn't get anything different. System still works fine now after 2 years.
Bought a NEW XBox 360 Slim. No issues. Works great.
PS3 (60GB) - Bought on EBay for $265 with 7 PS3 games, 2 PSP games and 3 BR movies. Still works fine. No issues.
PS3 Slim (320GB) - Bought this bundle (UC3, GT5 XL & CoD-MW2) for $298. Works great. Uses it mostly for Netflix, BR movie and testing game demos.

2 XBox 360 Dead (RROD)
2 PS1 Dead (DRE, Freezing, Stopping playing CD's)
1 PS2 Dead (DRE. Won't play DVD's.)

My xbox 360 rrod right after I bought Alan Wake.

a system has never broken on me i just always sell them. althought my ps3 stopped reading discs but sony fixed it for free

Hmm... Let's see here:

Game Boy Pocket - works

Game Boy Color - works

Game Boy Advance SP - works

Nintendo DS - Dropped in an aquarium. Sound quality dropped a bit but otherwise no damage. Later on a heavy tray was put on it which caused successively more pixels to turn gray. (Now at about 80%). Only when the light is turned on though, so overall the system kind of still works.

Nintendo DS lite 1 - One of the two areas connecting the top screen with the rest of the system randomly broke one day when playing Guitar Hero: On Tour, resulting in the top screen being completely loose and connected merely through the wires. After some time had passed, the screen went completely white. So we trashed it. Otherwise I would have taken a picture.

Nintendo DS lite 2/3 - works

Nintendo DSi - Minor problems with the L-button at one point, but it solved itself.

Nintendo DSi XL - works

Nintendo 3DS - Same as DSi.

Nintendo 3DS XL - works

NES - works

N64 - works (Reset button is stuck, but it's completely useless anyway.)

Gamecube 1 (black) - Disc reader issues.

Gamecube 2 (silver) - works

Xbox - Power cable got bent, so we trashed it since all good games were playable on the Xbox 360 anyway. Pretty sure that the console itself was fully functional though.

Xbox 360 1 - RRoD

Xbox 360 2/3/4 (same model, though purchased much later) - works

Wii - works

Wii U - works

My first PS1 stopped reading disks the day after I bought it.
PS2 no problems with console, but the AV cord became finicky resulting in audio problems
XBox power button broke
XBox 360 contracted Red Rings of Death
Never had an issue with any of my Nintendo consoles or handhelds.

Amstrad CPC 464: Worked until it got sold. Some tapes were worn out though the hardware worked perfectly.
SNES: Fine
PS1: Fine until I gave it back to my cousin
PS2: First broke (disc read). Second started making the same noises but I bought a fat b/c PS3 before it broke.
PS3: Fine
360: Fine although not played any more due to it being modded and banned from Live.
Wii: Fine
