Forums - Gaming Discussion - Have you ever switched your console allegiance mid-gen?

Did you switch?

I switched to Nintendo. 18 9.05%

I switched to MS. 45 22.61%

I switched to Sony. 73 36.68%

I stayed with the first console I bought. 63 31.66%

Total:199

MS to Sony.

360 was the best console for me until Kinect/apps focus, then the games stopped coming and I moved on to the PS3.

Yup.

I bought a PS2 before a Gamecube last gen, but I mostly played on the Gamecube, being a Nintendo fanboy and all. However after a while, I started to play PS2 games a lot more then Gamecube.

This gen, I bought a 360 first, then a PS3. My PS3 broke so I bought a Wii. My 360 is breaking (I'm worried), and now I plan on buying a PS3 again. Went from MS only to Sony/Nintendo (XenoBlade re-fanboy'd me).

In the future, I will not buy 1st gen Sony's (all 3, my PS1/2/3 broke, but all first 1st gen models), but I will not buy MS products until the last gen (On my 4th X-Box, all replaced under warrenty, but my HDMI 360 is only 3 years old, and I'm already worried about it breaking. That's bad.)

So my plan is buy Nintendo when the gen starts (Wii U is first on my radar), then get a Sony product once they do a redesign (When PS3 Slim released, it then became the ideal time to buy a PS3), then get a MS product when the gen is over and rake in $10-$20 AAA exclusives (360 Arcade isn't too hard to find for $130 new).

Lol. Wow. Your next gen plan is freaking complicated.

I'm a scientist.....I do that.

1. Get a Wii U when the games get good.

2. Get a PS4 when they make a redesign.

3. Get a NextBox just before then gen ends.

4. Enjoy games from all platforms

Well, yes.. I've been Sony/Nintendo since PS1/N64 days and that didn't change until this gen. I enjoyed PS1/N64 and PS2/NGC quite a lot. I will admit, I became a bigger Sony fan when Nintendo launched the Wii this gen. That was the first Nintendo home console I didn't buy since the N64 days (I didn't actually buy the NES and SNES since they were gifts so I'm not counting those). That aside, I intend to get a Wii U later, but not before PS4. So basically, since the Wii I've become a bigger Sony fan, especially since I really enjoyed the PS3. No regrets!

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Nintendo is always number 1,

However I sold my PS3 for a 360 mid gen and couldn't be more happy bout that!!

kind of, i am more of a Sony gamer now however last december i picked up a wii u to go with my 3ds as a proud nintendo fan. Nintendo had a short run this Gen for me. now i main my vita and ps3, sure i will still buy some nintendo exclusives like pokemon, zelda and xeno but theres just not much there to intrest me

Got the 360, it RODD'd 4 times, binned it and got a PS3.

I went multi-console mid-gen for the past 2 gens... last gen I got a PS2 in early 2003 after getting a GC at launch, and then during holiday 2007 I got a 360 after procuring a Wii earlier that summer.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Well the Ps3/360 has a life spam of up to 3 years, and the PS Vita screen has a life spam of up to 3 -5 years.

The PS4 will break down like the PS3 did, but the NextBox might not have a short life spam, unlike the 360.

Personally my PS2 is still going strong.

I think as long as you don't get a first gen Sony, it will work for a long time. Two of my friends got the non backward compatible PS3's, just before the slim, and one guy plays more then me, and they are working fine.

But it has to be non-first gen, 1st gen PS2's had defective lasers which would go out of allignment after 2-3 years, and like you said Vita's screen eventually goes. My PSP already has screen issues and it's only 1 year old.

Also X-Box Lifespan is 1-3 years LOL

Nintendo though.....I haven't had any Nintendo product break on me, except a SNES controller, but not that I think about it, I think my sister spilled something on it.
