I've actually just been re-playing both Goldeneye 007 on my (new) N64 and Metroid Prime Trilogy, so...

yeap, golden eye was so much fun but Metroid prime was a huge suprise and revolutionized gaming imo

Not many suprises on my list. Metroid Prime is my favorite game (and it has aged incredibly well). Mass Effect 2 versus FFVII was a hard choice, but I will always be a sucker for RPGs with in-depth character relationships.
