Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Tomb Raider vs Uncharted argument has begun.

Here we are, and I knew this day would come. Tomb Raider surfaces and all of the hipster Tomb Raider fans come out of the woodwork on Youtube talking about how Tomb Raider has reigned supreme again. People said, if you think this is like the Tomb Raiders of old they need to get their eyes checked. I personally think Tomb Raider looks a lot like Uncharted opposed to the old games. I watched my roommate play on PC and its pretty much the mechanics with uncharted with movable cover and hunting that doesn't make sense to exist because it doesnt go to crafting exp. I will play it next week but my initial impression of the is great, but its similarities are very strong down to the multiplayer with Uncharted. The only difference to me is its less linear, theres tombs to raid and you can hunt (for reason? I don't know) what. In the beginning I felt sorry for the chick but after her first kill, I felt scared for everyone else on the island. LOL

What do you think?

It does look very similar to Uncharted, I kinda hoped that they would go with the older Tomb Raider style. Still, it looks like a fantastic game, I wasn't expecting it to be so well received.

This is my thought:

People were waiting for a decent TR to release. Now all of the haters have found something they can target and its Uncharted (mainly because Uncharted has been held to such an insane standard it drives the haters insane when something is on top). I wouldn't worry about it because this was coming.

Please don't bring fans of original TR into this - this Dumb Raider has absolutely nothing to do with TR, except for the name.

They are both very similar, and they are both very good.

When it comes to shooting, it certainly feels a lot like Uncharted. Close Combat is a lot different though and the option to upgrade weapons as well as skills adds a little more to it. All in all, Tomb Raider offers more possibilities, both in exploring and combat. Besides, there are less shooting scenes than in Uncharted and more riddles, even if most of them are ridiculously easy.

When you completed the game and enter Free Roam Mode, that feels a lot like old Tomb Raider titles. You're just wandering around, no music or anything, looking for treasures and stuff. Enemies are still there, but appear in very few numbers. The only difference of course is, that you ave no clear goal in free roam.

All in all I thing CD found the middle between good old Tomb Raider and modern gameplay (Uncharted). People just demand action filled games nowadays and CD certainly deliver. It's impossible to serve everyone right, so if you don't like it, don't play it. Im a Tomb Raider Fan since 1997 (TR 2) and enjoyed the game quite a lot, but I also liked Underworld which for some reason got a lot of hate. The only complaint I have is the lack of end bosses. That turned me off with Underworld quite a lot and I really missed them in the newest game. As for Uncharted, I really like that series, too. The presentation is amazing and the story is always kinda interesting. But for me, Drake just can't compete with Lara.

I just hope the next Tomb Raider doesn't take 5 years to release. Remember when we got a new Tomb Raider every friggin' November? Granted, especially part 5 lacked quality, but those were good times nonetheless. After that the series really struggled. I know good games take time, but 5 effin years is just too much for Tomb Raider. I want a new one by the end of 2014! :P

What argument? lol

Uncharted>>>>>>>>>>>>Tomb Raider

FACT.

I've played the game and it is without question Uncharted with Tits. But with not as good graphics, not as good cast (other the Lara the other characters SUCK. Uncharted is dripping with charm and charisma from the ENTIRE cast, in every game. Eddie Raja anyone?) , not as mind blowing action set pieces. But it is good. But better than Uncharted?!?

HAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAAHAHAHA!

No.
