Super Mario Galaxy's story is better. Rosalina's Storybook is a tearjerker.

The only one I can think of is Pokoko. Or maybe he's just using extreme sarcasm. 

Mostly sarcasm mixed with a bit of reverse sarcasm.  I knew what the OP was doing, though I had no idea what game he was talking about.  Very disappointed that the OP fibbed about the "plane crash", however.  "Skidded a few feet short" is not "almost killed everyone".  I was hoping for at least a small explosion.

Still, why should anyone necessarily be familiar with Mario Sunshine?

Also, I was serious about Alundra.

 

Because a lot of people use nonfactual assumption to determine that any Mario game is nothing more than a kids game.

Did anyone else notice the blank stare Rosalina gives you after she's done reading, and says "That will be enough for tonight", almost like it's some kind of traumatic or F*%d up story from her past that she cannot get through the whole thing in one sitting?

Once I accidentally walked into the Library instead of a level hub area on Galaxy and I was forced to reset the console immediately before I was assaulted by tasteless piano music and atrocious writing.

Sunshine was a great game when it let Mario jump, explore and discover. The rest of the time, the story, cutscenes and on-rails segments were bad.

Are you sure you are using the term "on-rails" correctly?

Metaphorically, except in the case of that Pinna stage. The shines where it was all GO HERE, DO THIS, NOW CUTSCENE. The Sirena stage was the worst for this.Control was frequently taken away or quite limited.
