i layed it down once. when i first got it in 06. noticed it got kinda of warm under it. been standing up ever since. with no problems. seems the heat can escape more easy with the exhaust at the top.

wouldn't horizontal or vertical be a better question? Whatever, I keep mine horizontal. I've never had the PS2 or PS3 vertical.
