People will say this every generation of gaming that Sony is involved in. This is mainly because of the Sony dominance from PS1 and PS2 era. Something wild could happen like last generation, ie 720 could be the new wii and PS4 could still be overpriced in comparison.

i doubt 720 will be the new wii.... that fade has come and passed. Kinect isn't even new anymore, its just an improvement on something thats already existed for a few years.

Unless MS pull something amazing out of the bag, I'm going to say yes because from the sounds of it, MS are focusing on media rather than games. As long as a console does bluray, streaming/datastick reading and netflix I don't think anyone cares more than that.

I'd say WiiU is out of the race at this point, though it may still surprise us this holiday season, we'll see.

Between the next Xbox and PlayStation, I believe PS4 has better chances, as it remains a more popular brand, like current sales tell us. So, if I had to bet right now, I'd bet for PS4.

But I'm not confident about this at all, just look at the last gen to see how much and how quickly trends can change.

Well with the Wii U out of the picture I could def see this happening.

Out of the picture? I believe the current score is...

Wii U - over 2 million

PS4 - Zero

Technically it is Sony that is currently "out of the picture" in the next gen war :P

Let us also not forget Wii U has yet to have a significant game since launch. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, my Sony friend. PS3s stumble out the gate when everyone declared Sony dominance should have taught you that.

I'd still say MS has this one.
They pretty much have NA under lockdown. Especially if Live IDs are transferable.

If they can get Illumiroom running on Nextbox, that serves as a gateway to casuals.
Cable blah and blah don't matter much.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I'd guess so. Of course that was my prediction before it was even revealed and before the Wii U launched soo....

Microsoft always does have the chance to surprise though as it will likely lead the US.

It will mostly just all depend on how well Sony does in the US and UK.

Wii U looks like it will only be saved Vita status by first party games... Meanwhile Microsoft penetration of Europe will be problematic due to Gran Turismo 5, and Playstation being seen as the Fifa box, in the same way Xbox is the Madden Box, and the two systems being so similar,

It has a 1/3 chance of getting first, so it's possible.

Yes. And that's all due to GDDR5.

Ex Graphics Whore.

very very premature, but im bored waiting for my porn to finish downloading so ill bite, I cant wait for the next generation to kick into full gear, all three consoles are approaching this generation differently, of course it based on rumors, sony is pushing video gaming development and social aspects, is this going to be a good idea, sure social works on facebook and apps, but its because everybody has a pc and smartphone, allowing for easy entry. For playstation home to work it needs to have people in it and pushing your hardware to make your games look awesome will also push the cost to produce your product. Can sony make it work? time will tell. Microsoft is pushing new imputs and multi media function, illuminroom and kinect 2.0 seem cool but will people see it as just another gimmick and move on, sure multi media sounds good but cant i get a simialar experience with a roku or an apple tv. or any number of products at a quarter of the price. Will Microsoft be able to sell the all in one experience? Time will tell. Nintendo seems to be aproaching portability and social, i mention social before and some of the pitfulls with it, so ill talk about the portability, heres a console when that when someone wants to take over the tv i can just leave and continue my game or what ever i was doing and go to the next room, pretty cool right? but why would i buy it if i already have a tablet or smartphone, want to jump on netflix, tablet or smartphone, want some light gaming, tablet or smartphone, some quick youtube, tablet or smartphone, Will Nintendo be able to show how its tablet controller is superior to all that? Time will tell. All different approaches to the market, first place in sales next gen, time will tell. I can go even deeper but my porn is down downloading so its time to go.
