Big Boss.

Big boss for me XD Although I like Solid Snake more

I like Link, but as with most silent protagonists, I have trouble supporting him over a legitimately well developed character. I mean, he's a blank slate in most games, with only his character design going for him. Big Boss has inferior character design, but superior everything else.

So, Big Boss

Link is more of a typical silent avatar without much of a personality. It may be good for immersion, but as an actual character it can't compete with Big Boss.

I expect Link to win though, because people will think in terms of Zelda vs. MG rather than Link vs. Big Boss.

I expect this to be the case in many situations.  For example Kratos and Masterchief.  Kratos has a good chance of going far because of sony support and he appears in great games although he lacks in character compared to others.  Howeve Kratos is in a tough matchup for round 1. Masterchief I expect to lose early on not only because the lack of character he has but because i believe MSFT has more haters than fans on this site.  

kind of unfortunate these two got placed against each other so early. Both had a chance of going far. currently they are tied which shows the popularity for both of these iconic characters
