Lack of bluray seems odd. Unless they are doing the Nintendo route and simply not having video playback as a core feature. It will be a "bluray" drive as that is even what WiiU is. Its just not licensed to play movies.

This is exactly what I was thinking. No Bluray probably means it will not playback bluray movies. Like the Wii U doesn't play bluray movies and the Wii doesn't play DVD movies. This limits the licencing fees that they need to pay to the consortium.

FAKE.

This website, GamingCapacity, was formerly called PS Analog. If you recall the "owner" of the site made a threads here once in a while promoting his website or trying to recruit editors LOL.

This website has no "inside sources". It is fishing for hits, you people are falling for it. There are rumors and then there is made up shit. This is the latter.

Huh? I knew that something about optical disc feature would be different. Now it's just a rumor and so we still need to be confirmed with something.

If it doesn't use bluray, then expect all games to be downloaded.
If neither, then it is doa as dvds simply can't store nest gen games on them.

Computers seem to do fine without blu ray, I am sure the next box can too.

Not at all because they work very differently.

Computers instal the data rather than running it off the disc, thus compression can be huge, and you only need the engine on one disc, not all of them.  Also a lot of PC exlcusive titles are starting to take up vast amounts of memory eg. Napolean TW is ~25GB in size.

Consoles can't do this as they need the engine on every disc, so if you had a game which was 17GB of data, this would not be on two discs, but most likely 3 or 4 as the engine and vast amounts of data would have to be compied onto each disc.

So as I said, if not major cloud support or bluray, it's doa/not next gen.

they can install games just like a pc, or come on multiple discs. Game consoles and pcs are not very different at all, and next gen will be even similar. Current gen consoles can already install games with no need to run off of a disc.

And you consider that a next gen solution?

The PS5 Exists.

This is All BS until Microsoft actually says it! I could put an article on here tellin u pink elephants will fly out of your butt when u play the new Xbox. Does not mean its true!

I am glad it doesnt have blu ray. I dont see the need for the extra cost.

Blu ray isnt expensive anymore, this isnt 2007 :) it's won't use DVD'S they showed there limitation this gen, if they use another format it would be just as costly

I consider PC as always next gen. So yes.

Blu ray is more exspensive since they would have to pay extra royalties for movie playback. If they use a "blu ray drive" but omit movie play back (like the wii U does) than it would cheaper. But you are probably right, the difference in price of the drives is probably negligible.

microsoft needs to present SOMETHING that rivals PS4, if they just present "similar tech" and inundate us with kinect2.0, then forget that!

Im not wasting time with motion sensing or arm flailing, I want GAMES. Give us games, enough with krappy kinect.

Btw, it would be the greatest PR disaster if microsoft INCLUDED bluray in their console. It would literally mean that SONY profits off of EVERY xbox order. Not every xbox manufactured or sold, every ORDER put in for manufacturing lol. Bluray Consortium is licking their chops, waiting for xboxnext inclusion hahah!

It will not include Blu-Ray???

Hey! N4G accepted this guys article, so it must be true.

i think it will definitely have blu-ray,i mean come on what else could they use instead!

They could use their own disc format like Nintendo do with the WiiU. It would cost MS way lesser if they create their own 50-100GB discs.
