Forums - Gaming Discussion - Crytek - Single Player experience has to go away

...said by someone who can't make a good single-player game if their life depended on it. "Oh noes, I'm unable to make decent toast. Let's get rid of all the toast!"

Their games look pretty, but I wish they'd just stick to making engines instead of being such know-it-all loudmouths.

I gotta go with Dr. Evil's response:

Signature goes here!

Not as long as I'm here.

Nope.

i played Dark Souls offline for the biggest part. all the notes left behind my gamers pissed me off. you know shit is going down when there is a hellot of messages lying around and it spoils the atmosphere.

so no.

The ghosts walking around were a nice touch but you don't need online for that effect. The rest was pretty annoying. I pretty much only turned online on when I was in the mood for some co-op to get some extra souls fast.

Leaderboards and stuff can go to, I don't need to be reminded with everything I do that I'm ranked 150,000th in the world. Or feel that I'm progressing slower then intended when no friends are playing the same game to beat for xp.

60 hours of unconnected Ni No Kuni was indeed great.

Games are turning too much into score cards already, collected 3 of 10 of random item 24, congrats 20 headshots with pistol 4b with ammonition x, now try for 50, discovered another 10sq foot, here's a sticker.

As mean as it may be, of course they want the single player experience to go away. They're terrible at providing a decent single player in their games.

I dont think its such a great idea. I love playing alone sometimes. I dont want all games to be online and multiplayer.

Fuck that.

Outside of fighting games, I prefer single-player action, and a good single-player experience is worth it's weight in gold. Adding more social crap to it won't enhance a bad campaign/story mode.

If they can't handle that, that's their business.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

i doubt it. if the consumers go the way of online only there will be far fewer game purchases and devs will go under. No need to buy 5 or six games a year, if you can 1 or 2 online games all year.
